Good afternoon, my union brothers and sisters . I’d like to introduce myself to those who don’t know who I am. My name is Patrick Benitez. I’ve been a shop steward going on six years here in DFW at TWU Local 513. I am reaching out because it is that time of year for our local. What I mean by that is obviously you guys are aware it’s election year. And no, I’m not campaigning or running for a position (Not just yet 👀😂🙏🏽) . But the reason why I want to reach out not just to the newer members of our local but to all members here at local 513. I want to put a reminder that this is not just any other election but in my personal opinion, an important one and what I mean by that is whoever wins in this upcoming elections will be highly engaged and take part of our 2027 contract negotiations for those of you who don’t know. So I highly recommend and encourage you to vote to vote on who you think is best not just at the big stage in contact negotiations, but to be an impact to our local if you’re going to vote. I encourage you to reach out to these candidates and ask them questions if you don’t know who they are or what they have done for our members and or Local. Call the Hall , call the field office ,start going to our union monthly meetings. And ask what shift or work location does this candidate work? Ask them what has been your involvement with local 513. What is your experience? What is their knowledge of being a representative or any training? What have they done or volunteered? Have you ever been union representative ? How long have you been a union representative? What committees have you been engaged with? How long have you been a Safety steward? Anything in regard to being active with our local 513. Respectfully the election can affect our livelihoods and the future of local 513. I know it’s a lot but I’m gonna just end it like this. We can’t complain for an outcome that We all voted on. So it’s in our best interest to vote on someone for the position who is best fit who’s made an impact to this local. someone who is knowledgeable, experienced, educated in doing the job to be elected and an officer- leader in our union here at TWU Local 513.
