Six days remain in Onyx’s campaign, and today we are sharing copies of his veterinary invoices to show exactly where things stand.

After emergency surgery, septic complications, a second lifesaving surgery, ICU hospitalization, medications, diagnostics, and around-the-clock critical care, Onyx’s total veterinary bill reached $26,578.21.

His family has already paid more than $21,000 toward his care, and the Ember Reign Foundation provided a $2,500 Compassion Grant to help during the most critical part of his journey.

Today, there is still an outstanding balance of $5,355.63 remaining on his account.

Because of your generosity, our community has already raised $2,950, which means we are now just $2,405.63 away from covering the remaining balance.

On June 15, all funds raised through this campaign will be paid directly to VCA Sonoma County to help reduce the financial burden this family has carried while fighting to save their beloved boy.

The reality is that many families faced with a $26,000 emergency veterinary bill simply don’t have good options. Thanks to this community, Onyx got the care he needed, made it home, and now has the opportunity to continue healing surrounded by the people who love him most.

🚨 ONYX UPDATE – 7 DAYS LEFT 🚨

Onyx is finally home with his family, and for that we are incredibly grateful. ❤️

After multiple emergency surgeries, septic complications, ICU hospitalization, and a fight that at times seemed impossible, Onyx is continuing his recovery where he belongs—at home.

While the medical crisis has passed, the financial burden remains.

The family has already paid approximately $18,000 out of pocket toward Onyx’s care. Through the generosity of our community and the Ember Reign Foundation Compassion Grant, we have been able to make a difference, but we still have 7 days remaining in this campaign and a goal of $15,000 to help further reduce the financial strain left behind by this medical emergency.

Every donation, no matter the size, adds up. If 100 people gave just $5, that would be another $500 toward helping this family focus on Onyx’s recovery instead of overwhelming veterinary bills.

🚨 PYOMETRA: The Silent Killer Many Dog Owners Don’t Know About 🚨

In this video, you’ll see Mei Chen and her dog Daisy as we discuss pyometra—a serious and potentially life-threatening uterine infection that affects unspayed female dogs.

There are TWO forms of pyometra:

🔴 Open Pyometra
This occurs when the cervix remains open, allowing infected discharge to drain from the body. While still a medical emergency, owners may notice warning signs such as:
• Vaginal discharge
• Excessive thirst
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Fever

⚫ Closed Pyometra
This is the more dangerous form because the cervix is closed, trapping infection inside the uterus. The uterus continues to fill with pus and bacteria, often with NO visible discharge. Signs may include:
• Vomiting
• Lethargy
• Increased drinking and urination
• Swollen abdomen
• Loss of appetite
• Weakness or collapse

🚨 Pyometra is always an emergency. Without treatment, it can quickly progress to sepsis, organ failure, uterine rupture, and death.

💡 The most effective prevention is spaying before pyometra develops.

Because of this incredible community, we’ve raised another $20 toward Onyx’s care, bringing total community contributions to $2,595! ❤️

Combined with the $2,500 Ember Reign Foundation Compassion Grant paid directly to VCA Sonoma Veterinary Hospital, we’ve contributed a total of $5,095 toward Onyx’s medical expenses.

That means we’ve reached just under 34% of our $15,000 goal, with 9 days remaining in this campaign.

As many of you know, Onyx’s family has already paid more than $18,000 out of pocket fighting to save their beloved boy. While his recovery continues to move in the right direction, the financial burden doesn’t disappear when the crisis is over.

After a long and difficult journey, Onyx is finally home with his family.

This brave boy underwent emergency surgery for a life-threatening intestinal foreign body, followed by additional complications that required intensive hospitalization, multiple procedures, and around-the-clock care. There were moments when the outcome was uncertain, but thanks to an incredible veterinary team, his family’s dedication, and the support of this community, Onyx is now recovering where he belongs.

While we are celebrating this victory, the financial burden of his care remains significant.

We have 10 days remaining in this fundraiser, and every dollar raised will be paid directly to VCA Sonoma County. The hospital has graciously agreed to keep Onyx’s account open while we continue fundraising efforts to help reduce some of the financial strain his family is facing.

Seeing Onyx back home is exactly why we do what we do. Your donations, shares, prayers, and encouragement helped give this family more time with their beloved boy.

We have some wonderful news to share — Onyx is finally able to go home!

After everything this sweet boy has endured, seeing him get a second chance at life is exactly the outcome we were all praying for. From emergency surgery, sepsis, additional procedures, and critical hospitalization, Onyx has fought every step of the way. His family never gave up on him, and neither did this incredible community.

We also received an additional $10 donation yesterday, bringing our community fundraising total to $2,135. Combined with the $2,500 Ember Reign Foundation Compassion Grant, we have now contributed $4,635 toward his care.

There are 10 days remaining in this campaign.

The team at VCA Sonoma has been in contact with me, and because of the fundraising efforts taking place to help relieve some of the financial burden on Onyx’s family, they have graciously agreed to leave his account open in hopes that we can continue raising funds over the next 10 days.

While we still have a long way to go, I believe in this community.

More than anything, I am grateful that Onyx is thriving and heading home where he belongs. Stories like his are only possible because of families willing to fight for their pets and people like you who step up to help when a family is facing the unimaginable.

We are thrilled to share that Onyx is doing very well, and his current prognosis is very good. Seeing him standing, alert, and recovering is exactly why the Ember Reign Foundation exists—to help keep families together and prevent the unnecessary loss of a beloved companion when emergency veterinary care becomes overwhelming.

So far, our supporters have raised $2,125, and when combined with the $2,500 Ember Reign Foundation Compassion Grant, we have contributed a total of $4,625 toward his care.

💙 Onyx Update: A Little More Hope Today 💙

Sweet Onyx is feeling a bit better, and every small victory feels huge right now. 🙌 The staff continues to be encouraged by his progress, and we are so grateful for everyone who has been praying, donating, and sharing his story.

While Onyx still has a road to recovery ahead of him, we wanted to remind everyone that there are 12 days left in his fundraising campaign to help ease the financial burden on his family.

His current hospitalization costs have reached a staggering $26,168. His family has already paid over $18,000 out of pocket, doing everything they can to save their beloved boy. We are hoping to help bridge part of the remaining balance so they can focus on what matters most—Onyx being home.
