Thendara Mountain Club

Thendara Mountain Club The Thendara Mountain Club is based in a 100 year old rustic lodge in Harriman State Park. http://www Tent sites round out the overnight camping options.

The Thendara Mountain Club Harriman group camp is based in a rustic lodge built atop Hasenclever Mountain in the Harriman Section of the Palisades Interstate Park. The original structure, built in 1920, is used for dining, socializing, reading, or enjoying a blaze in the fieldstone fireplace. Our Harriman group camp building has a screened-in porch, sleeping rooms, and a complete kitchen. The TMC

“bunkhouse,” a screened sleeping house, adds to the warm weather enjoyment of the camp. Thendara Mountain Club is operated on a year-round, cooperative basis. TMC Members volunteer to host a weekend or midweek at the camp. The participants share the work of creating a meal and then enjoying the fruit of their labors. Friendships are formed while working side by side in the kitchen and breaking bread together. Harriman State Park hiking trails start at our doorstep, and a short walk down the hill leads to Lake Tiorati. Our Harriman Group Camp facilities on Lake Tiorati include canoes, kayaks, and a swimming area. The winter brings opportunities to hike, snowshoe, cross-country ski, or relax by the warm fireplace. An important part of our club is maintaining trails in Harriman State Park. We check over 10 miles of trails and help keep them marked and open to hikers.

Welcome intrepid explorers. Today we shall commence our adventure by following the unofficial trails of no (wo)mans land in the boot of Harriman where we'll encounter rock climbers and boulderers carrying crash pads. That will feed us up into the Hillburn • Torne • Sebago skyline ridge with unobstructed views. We'll transition seamlessly into Raccoon Brook Hills with more vistas and then turn west for exposure to opposing views (like our nation) before diving back down along Reeves Brook, an unmarked woods, Seven Hills and into our return trip.

Saturday January 10th 9 AM to 3:00 PM

11 miles at a good clip (2+ MPH)

Bring appropriate food, water, microspikes, gear as you require.

Sign up here- it's going to be a brilliant exploration.
