Thank you to Graceway for hosting yesterday’s luncheon, where our founder had the privilege of sharing more about the Rapha Mozambique Initiative—our mission to bring Christ-centered healthcare, discipleship, and training to northern Mozambique.

We’re especially encouraged by the growing depth of support within our prayer community. This mission moves forward through people who are willing to pray with purpose, give generously, and step into what God is unfolding.

Meet Intern #3 and join us in praying for Cássia Omia

Cássia is a general practitioner based in Maputo, serving as a doctor since 2024 with a heart fully anchored in both her profession and her faith.

She chose to be part of Rapha during to her deep desire to help others—and a recognition that it is a true privilege to pursue both a medical and a Christian calling.

For Cássia, medicine is more than a career. It is an act of worship.

She is committed to honoring the Creator of all things, and the Great Physician, through the way she serves, cares, and shows compassion to every patient entrusted to her.

Her life reflects a quiet but powerful truth: healing is both a skill and a calling.

This is the kind of leader who will help shape the future of healthcare in Mozambique.

Meet Intern #2: Declerk Ernesto Carlos

Declerk is a Christian general practitioner from Beira, in Sofala Province, and a 2024 graduate of the Catholic University of Mozambique. He currently serves in the district of Mossurize in Manica Province, where access to care is limited and the need is great.

His journey into medicine is deeply rooted in his faith.

Declerk chose to be part of Rapha because he desires to serve God through his calling as a doctor—loving and caring for others through both his faith and his profession. He sees his knowledge, skills, and opportunities as gifts entrusted to him, to be used in service of others and for the glory of Christ.

Guided by the teachings of Jesus, Declerk is committed to bringing healing that goes beyond the physical—reflecting compassion, integrity, and hope in every patient he serves.

This is the kind of leader who is shaping the future of healthcare in Mozambique.

Meet Intern #1: Carlos Sel

Carlos is a Christian general practitioner, husband, and a 2019 graduate of Lúrio University. His journey has taken him through Nacala-Porto and Angoche, and he is currently serving on Mozambique Island—faithfully caring for communities with deep medical need.

But for Carlos, medicine has always been more than a profession.

From the very beginning, he chose this path with a desire to serve others—to bring healing to those who need it most. And that calling continues to shape the way he lives and practices medicine today.

Carlos carries a vision that reflects the heart of Rapha: to see lives restored not only physically through excellent clinical care, but also spiritually through the truth and hope of the Gospel.

This is the kind of leader the future of healthcare in Mozambique depends on.

Something powerful is beginning to unfold in Mozambique… and we don’t want you to miss it.

This past weekend, we spent time with a small group of young doctors in postgraduate training—men and women who are not only growing in medical skill, but beginning to encounter God in deeply personal ways.

What we witnessed wasn’t just a meeting.
It was the early formation of something much bigger.

Lives are being shaped.
Faith is being stirred.
And a foundation is being laid for both physical and spiritual healing in a place that desperately needs it.

One moment especially stayed with us—when one of the doctors shared that, for the first time in her journey, she feels truly seen by the Lord.

That’s the kind of work God is doing.
Not just building a mission… but drawing people to Himself.

And we believe this is only the beginning.

This is what intentional impact looks like.
What you see here is not a ceremony. It’s a calling in motion.
This is a Mozambican doctor who, God willing, will become the first locally trained surgeon to one day oversee this clinic. She carries a story marked by perseverance, faith, and obedience—shaped not by ease, but by endurance through the Lord’s provision.

Kneeling beside her are two of her mentors, choosing to wash her feet in humility and honor. A quiet act that speaks loudly: recognizing what she has overcome through Christ, and blessing where He is leading her next.

This is the heart of the Rapha mission.
Not dependence—but discipleship.
Not replacement—but raising up.
Not temporary aid—but generational transformation.

We are witnessing more than training.
We are witnessing legacy being formed—rooted in faith, led by local leadership, and guided by God’s hand every step of the way.

A day of vision, prayer, and groundwork. 🌍

Back in September 2025, our team walked the land—literally—exploring multiple plots for what we believe will become the future home of Rapha Health Initiative.

With Matt Goon, Andrew Cunningham, Annelie Ruby Basson, and our founder Brian Meyers on the ground, this day marked a quiet but critical step toward establishing sustainable healthcare where it’s needed most.

Every mission begins somewhere.
This one began with faith, planning, and a shared belief that healing belongs within reach.
