Torch of Wisdom Foundation, Inc. Changing Tomorrow Today™ In September 2011, the vision was brought to fruition. The Torch of Wisdom Foundation, Inc.

In 1990, the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, Southfield Alumnae Chapter (SAC) envisioned acquiring a facility where youth and families could go for educational support, mentoring and recreation. (TOWF) acquired a commercial office building, located at 21819 West Nine Mile Road, Southfield, Michigan, which houses their official office and SAC office, along with available space for meetings, training sessions and other community events. It is believed that this is the first African – American public charity to make such an investment in Oakland County. “Based upon the demonstrated value of the Torch of Wisdom Foundation and its goal to significantly serve more youth and the community-at-large, we were pleased to approve the foundation’s mortgage to help it achieve this milestone,” said CEO Dean Trudeau of the Public Service Credit Union. We Fund – Support – Mentor Our focus is to raise funds for scholarship (academic achievement); programs that heighten awareness of the arts and expose the talents and works of local and nationally known artists; and for initiatives that strengthen and enrich our communities

Our signature “Golf Classic” event in partnership with SAC raises much-needed dollars to fund scholarships and community initiatives

Our special arts events have showcased numerous local and national artists along with raising scholarship and program funds

Our singular events have helped to donate hundreds of shoes to Africa through a partnership with SAC; to support hurricane victims; to enhance domestic violence education; and to recognize local leaders and organizations making a difference in our community, state and the world.
