As Haitian Heritage Month comes to a close, we also celebrate Haitian Mother's Day and honor the women whose love, sacrifice, strength, and determination help shape the future of Haiti every day.

At BLUME Haiti partner schools, we see mothers and families making extraordinary sacrifices so their children can learn, grow, and thrive through music. They encourage practice, attend concerts, celebrate accomplishments, and continue believing in their children's potential, even during difficult times.

But, music is not only about learning to play an instrument. It teaches discipline, teamwork, leadership, creativity, and perseverance. It builds confidence, strengthens communities and helps young people imagine a future filled with possibility. In this difficult moment in Haiti, music is a tool of resistance and an instrument of social change.

This Haitian Heritage Month, we are grateful for the mothers, teachers, school leaders, and supporters who help make these opportunities possible.

If you would like to honor a mother in your life, please consider making a gift to support music education for Haiti's next generation of leaders.

Happy Mother's Day to all the remarkable Haitian mothers who inspire us every day!

Boston Area Friends!

Join us on June 14 for a special concert celebrating the extraordinary life and contributions of Dr. John Jost — beloved teacher, mentor, musician, and friend to generations of Haitian musicians.

For decades, Dr. Jost helped shape the lives of young artists through his commitment to music education at the the École de Musique Sainte Trinité and the Orchestre Philharmonique Sainte Trinité (OPST) in Haiti. His belief in the power of music to transform lives continues to resonate across generations and across borders.

Organized by Canes Nicolas and Rudy Perrault with support from BLUME Haiti, IFSI - Immigrant Family Services Institute-USA and the Haïti Education Network, this afternoon of music, remembrance, and community will honor his remarkable legacy.

While John is no longer able to travel, we are honored that he will be with us in spirit and via livestream for this special celebration of his lifelong dedication to Haitian musicians and music education.

Here are the details:
What: An afternoon of music by Haitian composers presented by former members of the OPST, former volunteer teachers, and friends of Haiti's musical community.
Date: June 14
Time: 3:00pm
Location: All Saints Episcopal Church - 209 Ashmont Street, Boston

A freewill offering will be received in gratitude to All Saints Episcopal Church for generously sharing their beautiful space.

Guests will also have the opportunity to support the John Jost Summer Music Camp Scholarship Fund, helping young Haitian musicians access transformative musical experiences.

Information about the John Jost Society — a legacy circle dedicated to sustaining and strengthening music education across Haiti for generations to come — will also be available.

Music education is about music more than "just" music. Using music as a tool for social change, we help young musicians learn all kinds of life skills: collaboration, leadership, persistence, confidence, discipline, resilience and so much more!

At our partner schools, young musicians are developing skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives, both on and off the stage.

This summer, thousands of students will participate in music camps and programs supported by BLUME Haiti and our Haitian partners across the country.

Thank you for helping create opportunities where young people can grow, connect, and thrive through music!

This Memorial Day, as we pause to reflect on service, generosity, and community, we are deeply grateful for the many people who help make music education possible for young people across Haiti.

This weekend, Ray Noguera and our friends at the Laconia Music Center donated a cargo van full of instruments for Haiti. On Saturday, our partners at IFSI - Immigrant Family Services Institute-USA and the Haïti Education Network picked up the instruments and will soon ship them to Haiti, generously covering all shipping costs.

In turn, BLUME Haiti will share half of the instruments with IFSI for the CEMUCHCA Annexes they support across Haiti. A true win-win partnership rooted in collaboration and shared commitment to Haiti’s young musicians.

These instruments will soon find new life in the hands of students eager to learn, rehearse, and dream big through music.

During Haitian Heritage Month, we are reminded that meaningful change happens when communities come together across borders in a spirit of generosity and mutual support.

A HUGE thank you to Ray Noguera and the Laconia Music Center, IFSI, and everyone who continues to stand with Haiti’s young musicians!

If you would like to help support instrument distribution, repair, summer camps, and music education initiatives across Haiti, we would be honored to have your partnership.

Happy Haitian Flag Day!!!

Today we celebrate Haiti’s rich history, culture, and creativity.

More than 220 years ago, Haiti became the first Black republic in the world and the first independent nation in Latin America and the Caribbean. The courage and determination of that achievement continue to inspire people around the globe.

At BLUME Haiti partner schools, we see that same spirit reflected every day in young musicians and their teachers who continue to learn, create, and build community through music.

This Haitian Heritage Month, we are grateful for everyone who helps support music education across Haiti and the students, teachers, and schools who keep that work moving forward.

Haiti’s flag was created as a symbol of unity, courage, and freedom.

As Haitian Flag Day approaches on May 18, we celebrate the extraordinary resilience and creativity of Haitian communities across the country and the young musicians who continue choosing hope through music.

At BLUME Haiti partner schools, students gather in community to make music and to build friendships that cross regional and social divides. In places marked by uncertainty, music becomes a way to strengthen community and protect possibility.

But these programs survive because people choose to stand behind them.

This Haitian Heritage Month, your support helps keep music schools open, teachers teaching, instruments repaired, dreamers dreaming, and summer music camps accessible to students across Haiti.

Help us keep the music going for Haiti’s next generation!
