ArtOps president, Maury Okun likes to celebrates the end of the year by organizing a "secret" staff outing. This year he surprised our staff with a private tour of the Henry Ford archives followed by lunch and a private concert performed by Detroit jazz legends Alvin Waddles and Marion Hayden. As we head into the final weeks of this holiday season, we remember the hard work, dedication, and determination of our staff that helps bring the arts to life across our community.

Congratulations to ArtOps' Marketing Associate, Olivia Donnel, who performed with Opera Grand Rapids for their Chorus Concert in November.

Olivia joined the ArtOps Marketing team this past March and has been a great addition to our community! She is an avid performer and arts administrator who champions accessibility, collaboration, and innovation within the performing arts.

ArtOps' Director of Development, Jocelyn Conselva, performed alongside the extraordinary flutist Lina Andonovska as part of Eighth Blackbird’s Eyrie Festival in Chicago.

The Eyrie Festival marked the culminating celebration of the Blackbird Creative Lab community. Over two days, more than fifty composers and performers from across the Lab's history--including alumni, faculty, and special guests--came together for boundary-pushing, collaborative performance.

Since its founding in 2017, the Lab has fostered early- and mid-career artists through immersive residencies designed to spark experimentation, bold artistic exploration, and the advancement of contemporary classical performance.

Fun fact: Eighth Blackbird was part of the Shouse Institute’s inaugural class at the 1997 Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival--a beautiful reminder of how deeply connected our artistic community truly is. 💛🎶

Welcome Olivia Donnel as our new Marketing Associate. Olivia has her BA in Vocal Performance from Southern Illinois University and her Masters in Music from Oakland University. She works with Detroit Concert Choir, Opera de Metro, and was a recipient of MACC’s New Leaders Grant 23/24. Her hobbies and passions include gardening, hiking, and environmental conservation. She is excited to join the marketing team and looks forward to sharing her talents.
