Online Parenting Workshops: The MSU Extension is offering online parenting workshops for parents and caregivers. This week's session on Tuesday, February 16, 8 - 9:30 p.m. is Developmental Stages of Self-Control. Learn how self-control develops in children so you can better understand where your children are developmentally and how to best support them. Learn More and Register. Food 4 Thought - Family Dinners: Tuesday, Feb 16, 6 p.m. on Facebook Live. The Livingston County Community Alliance (LCCA) is having family dinner nights with a series of discussions monthly (3rd Tuesday of each month). Follow the LCCA page for updates and to join the conversation! Grab your family and join us! The LCCA will be having dinner discussing self-love and body positivity for the month of February. Think Babies Michigan! Michigan’s Children, in partnership with the Michigan Prenatal to Three Collaborative, will help unveil a new campaign to build a better system for infants, toddlers, and their families through policy change. It is called, Think Babies Michigan. The campaign launch on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021 will outline to the public and media a call to action and recommended policy changes specific to Michigan which are intended to spur policymakers to give all babies in the state a solid chance at a brighter future. Funded by a multi-year grant from the Pritzker Children’s Initiative, Think Babies Michigan zeroes in on families earning low wages, children living in poverty, children of color, and others facing big obstacles. Kindergarten Registration and Enrollment Information
Starting school is an important time in a child’s life and children’s readiness for school is important to us. Kindergarten registration begins in February – April, depending on your school district. Registering early allows the teachers, principals, and school districts several opportunities to connect with you and your child before school begins and allow them the opportunity to plan for the upcoming school year. Navigating Healthcare for parents of children with special health care needs, March 16 & 17, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (both days), Microsoft Teams. MI Family to Family Health Information Center and the Family Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs are partnering to offer a virtual learning opportunity, Navigating Healthcare, for parents of children with special health care needs in Michigan. Please share this information with families. This online medical advocacy training was created to provide parents with the information, tools and resources needed to navigate healthcare systems for their child with special health care needs. This training is open to any Michigan parent (biological, step, foster, adoptive, or kinship) or legal guardian of a child, birth to 18 years of age, with special health care needs. (Please note: this includes physical, developmental, behavioral, and mental health diagnoses.) Participants who attend both days and complete the evaluation receive a $100 gift card. Parents must pre-register to attend. The training link will be sent to you prior to the training. Space is limited.
