Originating from the vibrant heart of Detroit and building on the legacy of Black harpists from the city, the Mirrored Glass Harp Trio is expanding what audiences expect from a harp ensemble. Their performances blend classical traditions with influences from neo-soul, jazz, blues, and world music, creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new.
Artists performing March 29:
Ackeem Salmon, harp
Ahya Simone, harp
Anjel “AnJelic” Mantel, harp
Part of Mirrored Glass, Inc: Ensembles for the Collaborative Arts, the trio is connected to a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to the arts through interdisciplinary collaboration, education, and community engagement.
Through a wide range of techniques and creative approaches, the ensemble focuses on rhythm, texture, and collaboration, bringing a distinctive voice to contemporary chamber music.
Join us March 29 at the Detroit Repertory Theatre to experience their unique sound in our Structurally Sound series.
