This Earth Day, here's a concrete way you can ensure the beauty of Camp and its surroundings are protected for generations to come. Donate below to help protect nearly 400 acres of land—forever. Note: Anything raised in excess of the campaign will be used towards protecting and maintaining camp's land and its surroundings.

Over the last 18 months, we have developed a deep and lasting partnership between Smith Park of Massachusetts and New York and Audubon of Massachusetts to protect and preserve the natural surroundings of camp in perpetuity.

As we move towards establishing a conservation restriction on nearly 400 acres of our land, including a critical watershed and forests that are home to unique and endangered wildlife, we must first appraise the land to receive fair market value for placing this CR that will prevent future development while still enabling camp to do what it does best—residential camping for young people. Once established, the funds received for doing so will help enhance projects like the capital campaign and our modest endowment. We will retain the flexibility to build and even expand in the future in key areas, so this CR is about preserving the nature around camp that we would never want to lose on the future.

Audubon, in a wonderful demonstration of partnership and generosity, has offered to split the cost of the appraisal and then cover all of the additional costs of the CR as we move forward so we only need to raise $6,850 beyond our established 2026 budget.

But guess what? Through generous donations by current and former board members, we have already raised over $5,000 to make this possible! Can you help us fulfill Smith Park’s mission to ensure the “protection of [camp’s] natural surroundings” and contribute beyond our Annual, Scholarship, and Capital campaigns?

What makes WA WA so special? The top three elements are:
- Amazing people
- Incredible setting
- Awesome activities

But the glue, the piece that really brings the magic together is- hands down- our consistent routine!

Everyday at camp is totally unique AND it also follows the same exact flow.

This steady pace allows for cabin time, structured free time, water exploration, meals, personal elective activities, and camp-wide team activities.

Every single day is outside with lots of variety, plenty of choice, and a grounded foundation to try new things.

All participants get into the groove at camp. We predict that after just one week your stomach will rumble a bit at 12:15 and you'll wonder, "What's for lunch?" and when you leave camp, you'll never appreciate an hour of afternoon downtime (or even a nap!) more!

We've always known beavers are the true Camp Champs!

New research reveals beaver dams and wetlands in Europe are powerful carbon sinks, absorbing more greenhouse gases than they release. One site in Switzerland stored up to 164 tons of carbon yearly, equivalent to more than 800 barrels of oil.

Curious how to get kids out to camp this summer?

Let's talk about how to support kids to make the big transition to sleep-away camp, entering camp at different ages, financial aid, bedwetting, how the program changes as kids get older, taking medications while at camp, learning to swim on a lake, the challenges (and benefits) that come with a break from screens, what happens to your brain when you're surrounded by greenery all day, and so much more!

Join me tomorrow night for an info session. Register at the link in the comments or via the pop-up on our website.

Sometimes you just need to spend some time together! We LOVED seeing so many old friends, and making a few new ones, last night in Albany!

One camper said "I missed that noise level like in the Dining Hall when everyone is talking, and it's noisy, but you can still chat with your friend next to you."

Another camper said, "I need more things like this!"

More to come...

Saturday, March 28th in Brooklyn at Ample Hills on Washington Ave, 2:30 PM.
