Announcing the Retirement of Dr. Sheryl A. Simmons, Founder of Youth for Global Health and Social Justice

It is with heartfelt admiration that we announce the retirement of Dr. Sheryl A. Simmons, the visionary founder of Youth for Global Health and Social Justice (Y4GH). After years of tireless dedication and transformative leadership, Dr. Simmons leaves behind a powerful legacy of empowerment and change. Her retirement will be effective in October 2026, the same month the organization was founded.

In 2016, Dr. Simmons founded Y4GH with a clear mission: to provide a platform for young people to find solutions to a global water crisis they did not create, but would inherit. Under her guidance, the organization flourished, growing from a bold idea into a 12-country collaborative and respected partner organization to the United Nations.

Dr. Simmons led with a unique blend of strength and compassion that earned her the respect of leaders around the world. Her work was particularly guided by the plight of women and girls, who are disproportionately affected by the water crisis. She became a fierce advocate for their equality in water-related employment, policy, and decision-making processes. Her conviction was always clear: "I believe the human right to clean water and sanitation must be more than just talk."

As she embarks on her next chapter, Dr. Simmons reflects on her journey with immense gratitude for the young advocates who fueled her passion. "I have been blessed to physically touch the water in every ocean on the planet, visited 20 countries, and by my side were always the young people who gave me the courage and love to stay in the fight," she shared. "I will love them forever."

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Sheryl A. Simmons and her profound impact on global water justice and youth leadership. We wish her a retirement filled with peace, joy, and new adventures.

--Meet the inspiring leaders behind Beyond the Bounce! 🌟
Youth for Global Health and Social Justice is proud to announce Ja'Quia Lassenby and Tiffany Jackson as co-chairs of our new initiative.

Both Ja'Quia and Tiffany bring a deeply personal passion to this role. As parents of autistic children themselves, they understand firsthand the challenges families face in finding inclusive spaces. They are fierce advocates for the rights of all children on the spectrum and are committed to ensuring that no child is left on the sidelines.

Under their leadership, Beyond the Bounce is more than just a sports camp—it's a movement to create a sensory-friendly, therapeutic environment where youth aged 5-17 can build confidence, fitness, and community.

For more information about registering your child and/or volunteering, email us at [email protected], subject line "Beyond the Bounce"

Join us in celebrating their commitment to making sure every child has the chance to shine! 💙🏀
