At the very core of our program, we teach kids the power they have to breathe in the light…and blow out the darkness. We teach them that pain is a message they don’t have to listen to. We empower them with breathing techniques and non-contact Martial Arts taught by our Black Belt Martial Artists. But the most powerful part of all, is when they realize their purpose which is to teach what they are learning to the world. Thank you Detroit Tigers for remembering our friend Cailen with this beautiful tribute honoring him at Comerica Park. Cailen had an incredible impact on everyone who knew him. Cailen, a powerful martial artist with MATIO | Kids Kicking Cancer, built a special connection with Detroit Tigers pitcher Sawyer Gipson-Long, creating memories that will never be forgotten. Seeing his legacy honored on the field was a powerful reminder of the lives he touched and the inspiration he continues to provide. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this moment so meaningful. Cailen's courage, kindness, and spirit continue to inspire the entire MATIO | Kids Kicking Cancer family, and his legacy will live on in all of us.

💛 Today, on National Cancer Survivors Day, we celebrate the extraordinary strength, resilience, and courage of every child and family who faces illness with unwavering determination.

At MATIO | Kids Kicking Cancer, survivorship is more than a milestone — it’s every moment a child chooses hope over fear, strength over uncertainty, and healing beyond diagnosis.

For 25 years, we’ve stood beside children with cancer, sickle cell disease, and other serious illnesses, equipping them with the MATIO Method: breath, movement, and purpose to help them fight their greatest opponent — illness.

Today, we honor the survivors. We remember those we’ve lost. And we remain committed to ensuring no child faces their journey alone.

To every survivor: your courage inspires us. Your strength changes the world. 🥋💛

What an unforgettable day at Comerica Park! 💜⚾ As part of the Childhood Cancer Awareness Game during Strike Out Cancer Weekend, MATIO | Kids Kicking Cancer had the incredible opportunity to be on the field with the Detroit Tigers, helping raise awareness and sharing our martial arts techniques with fans throughout the ballpark. Seeing our kids step onto that field with confidence, strength, and courage was a powerful reminder of what this community is all about. A huge thank you to the Detroit Tigers and Tigers Community for helping shine a light on childhood cancer awareness and for creating such a special experience for our families.
