The Marine Forces Reserve (also known as the United States Marine Corps Reserve or the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve) was created in 1916, in conjunction with the creation of the Navy Reserve. Since then, the evolution of this force would expand from just thirty-five to today’s roughly 40,000 Marine Corps Reservists. The Marine Corps Reserve Birthday is observed every year on the 29th of August.

Marine Corps Reserve birthday will be celebrated on August 29.

National Airborne Day is a day designated by the United States Congress to honor the nation's airborne forces of the Armed Forces. It was created in 2002 by George W. Bush.

August 16, 1940 marked the first official Army parachute jump, validating the innovative concept of inserting United States ground combat forces behind a battle line by parachute.

Agent Orange Awareness Day is observed annually on August 10 to honor those affected by the toxic herbicide used during the Vietnam War and to raise awareness of its lasting health and environmental impacts.

National Purple Heart Day remembers the history of the Purple Heart award along with the sacrifice those who have earned the award have made for our freedoms. Purple Heart Day is on August 7th. This is the date in 1782, when the precursor to the award was first awarded by George Washington. There are almost 1.8 million people who can lay claim to being a part of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. This military holiday is important not only for remembering the history of the award but also for advocating for those who have been wounded along with their families.

July 28th is National Buffalo Soldiers Day, the holiday celebrating the contributions of some of the earliest African-American troops in the United States military.

These troops served on the Western frontier after the Civil War. They served in a variety of ways including security, law enforcement, and other frontier-specific activities. In 1866, Congress passed legislation known as the Army Organization Act, which formalized the creation of six all-Black U.S. Cavalry and infantry units.

National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day is observed each year on July 27th. It is a time to remember as many as 50,000 American troops who died in the conflict (official sources vary on the actual number), and over 100,000 wounded, and thousands of prisoners of war.

Each year, the President of the United States issues a proclamation announcing July 27th as a day of national observance in honor of Korean War veterans and their families

Roughly 200,000 military members retire or separate from the armed services every year, according to the Department of Labor.

These veterans bring competitive skills to civilian jobs, along with core values military service cultivates: dedication, teamwork, good communication and pride in getting work done. But, finding and competing for civilian positions can be challenging for transitioning veterans.

National Hire A Veteran Day aims to inspire employers to recruit and hire veterans by recognizing the unique skills and values that former soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen bring to the workforce.

Women Veterans Day, also known as Women Veterans Recognition Day or Women Veterans Appreciation Day, commemorates the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act by President Harry S. Truman on June 12, 1948. This landmark legislation allowed women to serve as permanent, regular members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force, expanding opportunities beyond the limited roles previously available, such as nursing.

Armed Forces Day is a national observance honoring the men and women serving in all branches of the U.S. military, from the Army to the Space Force. It reflects their role in safeguarding liberty, supporting global stability, and serving with valor and devotion. Created in 1949 after the National Security Act unified the armed services, it was proclaimed by President Harry S. Truman to replace separate branch-specific days, with the first celebration held in 1950 under the theme “Teamed for Defense.”

National Nurses Week Nurses play a vital role in the healthcare system, and care for patients in both the military community and in the civilian world. National Nurses Week is celebrated annually to honor nurses for their important work, as well as to educate the public about the role nurses play in health care.

National Nurses Week is observed each year from May 6 to May 12 in the United States to honor nurses and their contributions to society.
