A Red Flag Warning is in effect late this morning through this evening for the eastern Florida Panhandle and portions of southwest Georgia. Within the warning area, relative humidity values between 22-28% this afternoon and NE winds of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 25-30 mph are expected. Due to current drought conditions and unsubstantial rain, fires that may develop will have the potential to spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged.

Forestry will have extra manpower on call but we need to do our part to inform residents and put out anything that doesn't meet the law so we don't have to call them.

According to the latest National Weather Service update, the overnight weather is looking pretty bad. We are in a Level 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather with tornadoes, 60-70 mph winds and hail. Before the main line of storms, there is a potential for an EF2 or greater tornado. With any severe weather, I am concerned about citizens living in mobile homes. We are working on shelters now. If you know of anyone needing to get out of a mobile home please have them call me. Also, if you know of a church in your community willing to be used as a shelter let me know. 334-733-5719.

Semi almost turns over at the intersection of McCallister Road and Martin Road. The road is closed closed until the the accident can be cleaned up.
