This past Thursday we met to make holiday cards for 5 seniors at Pomperaug Woods! We hope to spread kindness and holiday cheer to these individuals this holiday season. 💚❤️🎄

Hi friends! This Wednesday 10/20 we will be having a meeting from 2:10-2:45 in room 408. We will be making posters and flyers on how we can spread kindness! Any existing members and students who want to get a feel of the club are welcome! See you all then!!

Back into another year! Tuesday 10/5 we will be having our first virtual meeting from 3-3:30 on zoom. This year we have chosen to broaden the scope of our club. Noting the intersectionality between mental health topics and substance use disorders, we now aim to reduce the stigma and create compassion in both these areas. Thank you to everyone who made donations and bought some delicious baked goods at our bake sale last weekend!! We raised over 900 dollars for ! We are so happy and look forward to more opportunities in the coming school year to reduce stigma and raise donations! @ LaBonne's Markets

Come sit in on and participate in Pomperaug's One Wheeling To Heaven Club Meeting! Featuring Lynn Tidgwell and Lynne A. Nouvel from Shatterproof! During this meeting we will be addressing stigma regarding addiction and recovery, using results from a form sent to student, along with the thoughts of others in the community. We will discuss the steps we can take to lessen the stigma within our community. This meeting is open to everyone! Students, teachers, parents, and members of our community! Dear PHS Students, Staff, Parents, friends and family,

My name is Ella Forbes, I am a sophomore at Pomperaug High School. This year I have created a club named One Wheeling To Heaven in honor of the loss of a family friend, Dan Tidgwell.
During the summer of 2019, my mother and I were welcomed with open arms into a family friend’s home that she shared with her son Dan. He was in his 2nd year of sobriety. Over the course of the summer, Dan and I became very close. On July 22, my mom and I arrived at the house and found Dan on his bed, unconscious, in his last battle with his addiction to he**in. We attempted to revive him, however we were too late. The events of that day were extremely impactful and helped shape the person I am today. Witnessing this had an enormous impact on my mother and me, yet the impact on Dan's family and mother Lynn, is beyond what any person should have to experience. Ever.
One Wheeling To Heaven aims to educate and reduce the stigma of substance use disorders in our school and community. By educating our community we hope that families such as the Tidgwells, can hold onto their loved ones longer with hope that they will feel less isolated on their road to recovery. In addition, we raise donations for Shatterproof, a non-profit organization based in Norwalk, CT, which aims to reverse the substance use disorders.
