The Ruth Wells Center for the Arts

The Ruth Wells Center for the Arts Cultural arts center serving Southbridge, MA and the surrounding communities since 1977.

We are fully dedicated to perpetuating the arts through our annual events, exhibitions and workshops; along with collaborating with other local cultural art centers. The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities (QVCAH), familiarly known as the Arts Center, is a membership association dedicated to perpetuating the arts and humanities in the area. The association was formed in 1977 by a

group of people concerned with the role of the arts and humanities in the lives of local citizens – before the days of mandated local cultural commissions. As government funding for local cultural endeavors slowly disappears, the role of the Quinebaug Valley Arts Center again becomes more important than ever in our lives and the lives of our children. QVCAH serves the following 25 communities in South Central Massachusetts and Northeast Connecticut:
Massachusetts:
Brimfield, Brookfield, Charlton, Dudley, East Brookfield, East Douglas, Holland, Leicester, Monson, North Brookfield, Oxford, Palmer, Southbridge, Spencer, Sturbridge, Wales, Warren, Webster, and West Brookfield. Connecticut:
North Grosvenordale, Pomfret, Putnam, Quinebaug, Thompson, and Woodstock.

LAST WEEKEND for Laura Cenedella’s “April Showers Bring May Flowers” exhibition. Saturday May 23 and Sunday May 24 from 12 - 4 pm

Stop by and enjoy delightful refreshments while checking out intriguing photographs, lovely oil paintings, prints, and one-of-a-kind cards by Brookfield artist Laura Cenedella.

Laura's work has been recognized with numerous awards from organizations including the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Blackstone Valley Art Association, and the Massasoit Art Guild. She is an active participant in the arts community in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and a Board member of the Blackstone Valley Art Association; a member of the Massasoit Art Guild; and a member of The Ruth Wells Center for the Arts. Her art has been exhibited in libraries across Massachusetts as well as the Worcester Art Museum.

All items are available for purchase, and admission is free. The artist is in the gallery and looks forward to seeing you!

Happy Mother’s Day!

While you are out with mom today, be sure to add The Ruth Wells Center for the Arts to your stops and treat her to Laura Cenedella’s beautiful May exhibition “April Showers Bring May Flowers” here in our galleries.

Laura herself is here to greet all gallery visitors and would love to see you. We have free refreshments, are open 12 to 4 PM, and as always, admission is free to all.

We are pleased to partner with the Unified Arts program at Southbridge High School for this exhibition of fabric art, papier maché, collage, and more. Unified Arts, chaired by DC Clark, nourishes vital musical, visual, and performing arts exploration and experience for middle-and high school-age young people of Southbridge
