Make a Difference Children's Foundation

Make a Difference Children's Foundation Mission: To bring relief to children living in poverty. Making a difference...one child at a time! Globally, nearly half of all children are living in poverty.

As The Make a Difference Children's Foundation carries out its mission, it offers opportunities for American children to get involved in projects that help other children and empower them with the knowledge that through their actions, they are never too young to make a difference. We also customize projects for groups and organizations that want to get involved and help us make an impact. Why we a

re needed: Hunger is the number 1 cause of death in the world, killing more than HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. 123 million youth aged 15 to 24 lack basic reading and writing skills; 61 % of them are girls. The highest rates of child mortality are still in sub-Saharan Africa – where 1 in 9 children die before age 5. Education remains one of the most powerful instruments for breaking the cycle of poverty. Current projects: OPERATION GIVE HOPE :Delivery of food, medical supplies, and educational materials to the orphans of Fundacion Dar Esperanza orphanage in Cali, Colombia in September, 2022. Future Projects: Distribution of school supplies to schools in Eastern Nigeria. Construction of a library for the Fundacion Dar Esperanza (FDE) orphanage in Cali, Colombia. Construction of sustainable garden and renovation of children's sleeping dormitory at FDE. Purchase of van so FDE orphans can attend a better school and have access to regular medical care. Implementation of Breakfast Program in Lagos Schools. Academic and Soccer Exchange Program (US/Nigeria/Colombia). Creation of sustainable Community Gardens in Abia State, Nigeria and Cali, Colombia. Opening of Nigerian/American School in Lagos.

Attention frequent business flyers! A MADCF supporter just made a great suggestion. It is important to us to personally deliver and supervise the distribution of donations in the various locations we are active. If you have any extra miles you can donate, it would help us maintain a presence and stay better connected with "our" kids. Message us if you have any miles that you can spare. Thank you!

UPDATE ON OUR NEWEST PROJECT!!

Right in the heartland of our beautiful country, on the Pine Run Reservation in South Dakota, children live in poverty with a life expectancy of 47 years old, lower than most places in the world. More than 1/3 of the houses lack electricity or running water. For these Native American children, an education is their best chance of breaking the cycle of poverty. MADCF is in touch with several of the schools their and community leaders and we are striving to help by collecting and providing them with some of their essential needs. But we need your help! We are looking for individuals and groups (sports teams, scouts, youth groups, groups of work colleagues) to help collect some of the items on their wishlists. For example we are in need of:
1. wired earbuds
2. Black socks (Youth-adult)
3. Student paperback dictionaries
4. Underwear
5. Hoodies
6. Fleece throw blankets
7. Walmart gift cards (only store near reservation is Walmart)

If you or your friends would like to get involved and host a collectionof any of these items, message us! If you prefer, you can make a donation via our website (www.madcf.org) or through our wishlist:

Thank you!

Imagine a world where the life expectancy is 47 years. Where up to 80% of children live below the poverty line and more than 1/3 live without running water and electricity. In what country do you think this exists?

We are now looking forward to some exciting new projects in 2026 including summer support for our local kids, a return to our orphanage in Colombia, a distribution in Nigeria, and a project to benefit Native American children (we are looking at Pine Ridge Reservation in SD). All of these projects need support and funding...reach out if you would like to get involved!

MADCF would like to thank Lauren Jankowski and the Horsham Clinic for their generous support of our Holiday Drive. Horsham Clinic already does so much for the community but even so they donated warm hats and gloves that we distributed to local homeless children. Thank you...we appreciate you!

On Monday, Jan 19 we celebrate the Martin Luther King holiday. Many people will honor MLK through acts of service. If you aren't involved in a service project tomorrow you can honor Dr. King's legacy and support children by shopping for our most needed items on our Amazon Wishlist or making a small donation through our website (www.madcf.org). Your donations will help children feel safe, ready for school, and loved!

Years ago, President Claudia Young started a service learning program in her classroom to teach her students that kids are not too young to make a difference. Her students named themselves the Make a Difference Kids and through various projects, they grew to learn the impact even small acts of kindness could have. They gave up recesses to color cards for Kids at CHOP, raised money with bake sales to make comfort kits for homeless children, and collected school supplies for Nigerian school children. Their enthusiasm was contagious and the program quickly grew into the Make a Difference Children's Foundation which today is active both locally and overseas.

The important lessons Claudia set out to teach them are still valuable today. You are never too young to make a difference, or too old to start. And even the tiniest acts of kindness and donations have a ripple effect. They add up to make a difference in the lives of children who need to know that they are not forgotten.

What can you fo? Consider supporting a local child by purchasing something from our Amazon Wishlist (link below) or by making a small donation through our website (www.madcf.org). Contact us if you would like to get involved or want help designing your own project! Better yet, reach out if you would like to organize your own Make a Difference Kids Program...we will help you get started!

MLK Virtual Day of Service Project Ideas For Kids…
Our youngest volunteers can get involved, too! Here are a few ideas local students have used in the past to help us raise funds:

1. Neighborhood Bake Sale
2. Lemonade/Hot Chocolate Stand
3. Chores for Cash - children do household chores, yard work, babysit or pet sit, etc for a fee.
4. Kids often have the best ideas…see what they come up with!

It is very empowering for our young volunteers to know they are helping other children. MADCF started with a service club that President Claudia Young ran out of her classroom, the Make a Difference Kids. Their enthusiasm was contagious and the spark that got the Foundation started!

MLK Virtual Day of Service Project Idea #2
MADCF is partnering with GotSneakers, a sneaker recycling program that accepts and pays for gently used sneakers. An easy project would be to ask friends, families, neighbors for gently used sneakers. We have volunteers who will pick them up…we will do the work of bagging them and mailing them off. The funds we raise will be used to support various projects throughout the year! This project could be a good fit if you aren’t local; we can give you information on how to ship the sneakers yourself (drop them off in prepaid bags at FedEx). Contact us for more details on the GotSneakers program either through messenger or email ([email protected]).

MLK Virtual Day of Service Project Idea #1
For children living in poverty, a good education remains their best chance of a better life. How can you help? Give them the tools they need to succeed in school. What could that look like?

1. Host a backpack collection! We are in need of new, sturdy backpacks to distribute to all of the children we serve including local homeless children
2. Fill zipper pencil pouches with school supplies and an inspirational note. We have been asked for simple supplies such as crayons, colored and regular pencils, glue sticks, erasers, sharpeners, etc. In some of the places we serve the children share everything…having a kit of their own supplies will make an impact!
3. Do a simpler collection of school supplies or even one type of supply. Small donations add up!
4. Too busy to shop or collect supplies? Many of the items needed can be found on our Amazon wishlist (link below). Or, consider a small donation via our website (www.madcf.org) or Venmo.

We welcome your own creative project ideas! Contact us for more information or with any questions ([email protected]).
