The public meeting process has "spoiled" some residents in several of our townships and villages, giving them the impression that they have the "veto powe" for anything that they don't like, agree with, or might believe some conspiracy theory about.
Sure, town and village boards DO make errors n judgement, resulting in unintended consequences from time to time.
It's not easy to be an elected official in today's political environment. The rhetoric has gotten nastier and much more severe, since the mental health crisis brought on by the pandemic.
Just look at some of our townships, where their decision making has been hijacked by small groups of virulent residents, resulting in major lawsuits and damaged relationships with the residents that elected them.
Playing politics is not fun. Let's work together on initiatives like Town Square so we can arrive at the best possible outcome!
