Soldiers Call Home

Soldiers Call Home I hand make small trinkets for holidays and send packages to troops as well as every day packages with the basics. I adopt soldiers and's platoons.

I started Soldiers Call Home when my oldest son deployed to Iraq in 2005. This program provides much needed calling cards during the holidays for deployed soldiers, allowing them to call their loved ones while oversees. My youngest son is now deployed to Afghanistan and, the program continues.
$10 calling cards may be purchased at Wal-Mart, super markets, and other local stores. To date, over 80

0 calling cards have been distributed. Each soldier receives a card with their name and a small handmade token for each holiday. (please check out the pictures of some of the packages I've sent)
Soldiers Call Home has adopted a unit with a Scituate native stationed in Iraq. We would love to adopt more! It doesn't matter what branch, or where they are. Please contact us for more information. If you want to send a calling card to a soldier or soldiers and would like more information, please email [email protected] or call 617.872.9325 or you can send them to Allison Voelger 8 Shady Rest Drive South Yarmouth, MA 02664. If you would like to send letters or cards they love getting those as well. Thank you for your support of our troops!!!! Allison Voelger

Congratulations! Lt. Gen. Stayce D. Harris achieved history as the first Black woman to serve as a three-star general in the U.S. Air Force and the first Black female lieutenant general in its entire history.

She also became the top-ranking Black woman in the Department of Defense at retirement. Raised in Los Angeles by a single mother who worked multiple jobs, Harris grew up in a modest, challenging environment.

Harris overcame skepticism and limited opportunities in aviation to command at every level, including as the Air Force Inspector General. Her trailblazing service embodies resilience and excellence.

In the presence of these two Marine Medal of Honor Recipients-one a youthful sentinel in full dress uniform providing a salute, the other a venerable hero offering a gesture of allegiance with a hand over the heart.

We are reminded that honor transcends generations and knows no term limits. At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, especially, the hero story lives on.

NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBERENCE - 82ND ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY

Today, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the heroes who took part in the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. On this 82nd anniversary, we remember the 73,000 Americans and thousands of Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy in one of history’s most pivotal military operations, helping secure the liberation of Europe.

Facing overwhelming obstacles and fierce resistance, these brave Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, Sailors, Soldiers, and Marines displayed extraordinary valor. More than 2,500 Americans made the ultimate sacrifice in the cause of freedom.

We remember their service, honor their sacrifice, and remain forever grateful for the freedoms they helped preserve.
