“This gorgeous, pathetic guy was picked up off the streets in a town known for abandoned cats recently by one of our volunteers.
He has been out there for a while. Obviously owned at one time. He is a sweetheart and starved for affection.
He was neutered last week. Got his shots and meds but that wasn't enough for his worn-out body.
He came down with diarrhea, then vomiting everything he ate.
He was lethargic but still seeking attention and love.
Going downhill fast, I had her take him to VEG right away.
I agreed to blood work, x-rays, another test along with the regular fluids and meds.
The vet just called me for approval of another test. She spoke so fast and I tried taking notes but I'm not so fast lol.
There is a good chance he could survive whatever is making him so sick, but we have to wait and see test results and if the meds start working.
She was kind and understanding about how much money it would cost us and tried to keep it low.
Tell me how, because of money, I could say no?
Of course, we will try to save him.
If she had said there was no help for him, I would have done right by him and ended his suffering.
But that's not the case right now.
They would have liked to hospitalize him but have great faith in his rescuer to be able to care for him at home.
And so do I.
His bill for tonight was $1,125.00.
I got a pang in my heart when they told me that but couldn't say no when there is a good chance he can survive this.
He is one of many dumped cats we have rescued so far this month, and we are only half way into the month that have needed extra expensive care.
Everyone knows how much I hate asking for money but so far this month our medical bills have reached an extremely high amount.” – Joni
