When we say “fostering saves lives” we aren’t kidding. These poor souls in Texas did not make it. More will die next week. The San Antonio shelter takes in approximately 400 dogs a month. Many of these dogs had rescue “interest” but the rescues likely had no place to put the pups. Rescues are built on fosters. We are so thankful for our foster network but are in need of MORE fosters! We hope one day the south will enforce spay and neuter but, for now we do all we can to get dogs North. To foster in TX or MA, head to aplaceforace.org and click on the foster application. Help us save more lives.

What a shame……

Turtle, the cutest damn thing since kittens, arrives to New England soon and as of now has no humans who want to adopt him… how can that be?

We can’t let that stand so…. Here you go!

“This gorgeous, pathetic guy was picked up off the streets in a town known for abandoned cats recently by one of our volunteers.
He has been out there for a while. Obviously owned at one time. He is a sweetheart and starved for affection.
He was neutered last week. Got his shots and meds but that wasn't enough for his worn-out body.

He came down with diarrhea, then vomiting everything he ate.
He was lethargic but still seeking attention and love.
Going downhill fast, I had her take him to VEG right away.

I agreed to blood work, x-rays, another test along with the regular fluids and meds.
The vet just called me for approval of another test. She spoke so fast and I tried taking notes but I'm not so fast lol.

There is a good chance he could survive whatever is making him so sick, but we have to wait and see test results and if the meds start working.
She was kind and understanding about how much money it would cost us and tried to keep it low.

Tell me how, because of money, I could say no?
Of course, we will try to save him.
If she had said there was no help for him, I would have done right by him and ended his suffering.
But that's not the case right now.

They would have liked to hospitalize him but have great faith in his rescuer to be able to care for him at home.
And so do I.
His bill for tonight was $1,125.00.

I got a pang in my heart when they told me that but couldn't say no when there is a good chance he can survive this.
He is one of many dumped cats we have rescued so far this month, and we are only half way into the month that have needed extra expensive care.
Everyone knows how much I hate asking for money but so far this month our medical bills have reached an extremely high amount.” – Joni
