Phineas is still searching for rescue or his perfect forever home ๐
At around 9 months old, Phineas found himself at a rural county shelter, terrified and alone. The moment our shelter liaison saw him, she recognized that he was shutting down in the shelter and needed out of there fast.
Phineas went to a foster home where he could have the time he needed to decompress and learn that he doesn't have to be so afraid of people. It took about a month for him to begin to trust, but once he did, his personality really began to show.
Phineas is a happy, energetic boy who loves other dogs and is much quicker to adapt and learn new things if he has a dog companion. He does really well with cats also. He has been around small children but tends to just avoid them, as he does with strangers. He is in the process of leash training, but is doing very well with it, and he will begin crate training soon. Phineas is not housetrained yet, but he is getting better with it since he has learned to walk well on the leash. He loves "chewies" and is still learning what is appropriate to chew on and what isn't, but he does well as long as he has a variety of appropriate chewies available. He also loves to chase balls and, with time, would likely be great at fetching. Butt scritches are his favorite and he will present his wiggle bum to you for more.
Phineas needs a patient adopter who can give him the time he needs to settle in, while also helping him learn what he needs to do to reach his full potential. He has so much love to give and he will thrive in an active home with another dog for him to play with.
