It was quite hot and humid for our preschool lake hike today, so we shortened the walk, went slowly, and discovered this fantastic "sit spot" where we could listen to a frog conversation and various bird songs.

Come on a leisurely walk for seniors through the large meadow to a charming covered bridge over Cross River in Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Level is easy, but sturdy shoes, pants and a hat are suggested. Light refreshments will be served at the end of the walk. Heavy rain and/or other inclement weather cancels (we still hike in light to steady rain with appropriate clothing/umbrellas).

Advance registration is appreciated so we can communicate any updates or changes to you.

Lewisboro Land Trust is pleased to announce that it is applying for accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, and a public comment period is now open. The land trust accreditation program recognizes conservation organizations that meet rigorous national quality standards for protecting important natural areas and working lands in perpetuity. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts a comprehensive review of each applicant’s policies, practices, and programs.

"Pursuing accreditation reflects Lewisboro Land Trust’s deep commitment to excellence, transparency, and long-term stewardship. Achieving accreditation will affirm that our work meets nationally recognized standards, strengthen the trust of our community and partners, and help ensure that the lands we protect today are conserved responsibly for future generations," said Catherine Downs, President of the Lewisboro Land Trust.

The Commission invites public input as part of this process and welcomes signed, written comments regarding Lewisboro Land Trust’s application. Comments should address how the organization complies with national quality standards, including the ethical and technical operation of a land trust.

Join us to celebrate, as a community, the work and achievements of Lewisboro Land Trust's former president, Bobbe Stultz with a hike through Marian Yarrow Preserve.

Bobbe has lead LLT though significant growth including land acquisitions and the creation of native gardens. Her dedication and guidance has shaped what our organization is today, and for that we are truly grateful. In addition to the hike we will be planting a tree in her honor and end with refreshments. We hope to see you there, even if you do not know Bobbe personally, and have simply enjoyed our programming and efforts to steward the land in Lewisboro.

We recommend wearing sturdy shoes, appropriate layers, and a hat. We also recommend bringing water. Steady rain or other inclement weather will cancel. This hike is rated moderate for uneven terrain. A carry option is recommended for younger children.

Please register in advance at the link in our bio or stories so we can plan for refreshments and communicate any updates with you.

Marian Yarrow Preserve is located on the East side of Mt. Holly Rd., 0.3 miles south of Todd Rd. and 0.3 miles north of Holly Hill Lane. To learn more about Marian Yarrow Preserve, visit our online field guide: https://fieldguide.lewisborolandtrust.org/preserves/indian-brook-assemblage/

For our first preschool nature program of 2026, we will welcome the new year with a bonfire party and hike. LLT will provide the fire, hot cocoa, and marshmallows. We will celebrate at Shelter #1 in Ward Pound Ridge Reservation overlooking a snowy meadow and large pine trees.

This program is designed for ages 3-5, but all ages are welcome. Sturdy shoes suggested. Heavy rain and inclement weather reschedules (we still hike in light to steady rain with appropriate clothing/umbrellas). In the interest of reducing use-and-throw cups, please bring your own travel mugs for hot cocoa, if possible.

Registration is recommended (link in bio or stories) so that we can plan for refreshments and notify you about any changes.

From Bobbe Stultz: As you may already know, Jackie and I have passed the leadership torch of Lewisboro Land Trust — after 32 years — as of yesterday, and we very enthusiastically welcome the new leadership team of Catherine Downs and Christina Collura, with support from board members Shantala Dugay Iyengar, Terri Riina, Helen Stevens, Roger Berlind, Paul Collura, Melanie Schaffran, and program coordinator Marissa Carrio. We are also very confident in this team, which I hope you will have the opportunity to meet sometime soon.

We are proud of the organization and what it has become for the community and will continue to help when needed. Lewisboro Land Trust, founded in 1994, has grown enormously in breadth and depth and is in good shape financially and administratively. We are also on the verge of acquiring National Accreditation. This work will continue in the hands of a very skilled board and volunteers.

We want to thank you for your enormous support over the years — you helped build this organization to what it is today — and to ask you to continue supporting it so it will be sustainable long into the future.

Thank you again. Your support has meant the world to us.
