A grassroots group of community volunteers dedicated to actions and practices that serve to protect the environment, health and welfare of South Portland, Maine. We believe each and every one of our citizens deserves a healthy environment, clean air to breathe, and development that is consistent with a shared vision for our community. Legal protections, including the possibility of a land use ordinance created by our City Council, to stop tar sands oil will protect South Portland’s air, water, scenic beauty, and property values.

The long-term averages of benzene, a known carcinogen, were higher near some of the city's tanks than the state's guideline.

Protect South Portland supports No Flock for SoPo.

We support constant monitoring of tank fumes and hazards but not constant monitoring of people.

1. Immediate Removal of Flock surveillance cameras at South Portland intersections.
