The Friends of the South Portland Public Library raises funds through memberships and sales of books in the Friends BookShop (located on the lower level of the Main Library!). 100% of funds raised go directly to support of our library.

It's that time of year!

Time to renew (or start) your membership to the Friends of the South Portland Public Library for 2026!

The Friends support our library through memberships and sales from the Friends BookShop, making many of the things that make our library special, possible!

With around 60 programs a month on the South Portland Public Library's very busy calendar of events, the Friends provides financial support, making guest speakers, musical performances, craft programs and free and discounted park, museum and attraction passes, available - AT NO COST - to our community.

Fall into the season with cozy classics and homey historical fiction. 📚🍂🏰Come check out our wide selection books, new and old. The bookshop is open for shopping and donations TueWedThursSat from 10am to 3pm. All proceeds help support community programming at the library. We hope to see you soon!

No dog days of summer this week but we do have lots of fun books on dogs 🐶. Also a new section of summer cookbooks as well as a great selection of recent bestsellers. The bookshop is open for shopping and donations Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10am to 3pm. We hope to see you soon!
