Behind every young woman finding her way forward is a village that chose to believe in her. 💛

Today, we pause to say thank you.

To every donor, supporter, partner, and friend of Wounded Healers International — you are part of every story of hope growing at City of Peace.

Because of this community, young mothers have found safety when they needed it most.

Because of you, girls have continued their education, learned new skills, received care for their babies, and discovered that their dreams are still possible. 🌱

Since opening our doors, your generosity has helped us walk alongside 31 young mothers and their children.

Every gift, every share, every encouraging word reminds these young women that there is a world of people cheering for them.

Healing does not happen alone.
It takes a village.

Thank you for being part of ours. 💛

Behind every number is a girl with a name, a dream, and a future.

Teenage pregnancy is not just a health issue — it is often connected to poverty, lack of access to education, sexual violence, and limited support systems.

In Kenya, thousands of adolescent girls become mothers each year. Many face stigma, drop out of school, and are left to navigate motherhood while they are still children themselves.

According to the Kenya Demographic and Health Survey, about 15% of girls ages 15–19 have ever been pregnant — meaning too many young girls are balancing childhood and motherhood at the same time.

But pregnancy should not be the end of a girl’s story. 💛

At City of Peace, we believe young mothers deserve safety, education, healing, and a chance to rebuild their futures.

When we support a young mother, we are investing in two generations — her life and the life of her child. 🌱

This little one’s story began at the City of Peace Safe Home. 💛

His mother arrived during one of the most vulnerable seasons of her life — young, uncertain, and carrying the responsibility of bringing a new life into the world.

But she was not alone.

At City of Peace, she found a safe place to rest, people who believed in her, and a community ready to walk beside her as she stepped into motherhood.

Since opening our doors, City of Peace has supported 31 young mothers — each with her own story, her own dreams, and her own future waiting to unfold.

We have watched young women become mothers, return to school, learn new skills, rebuild confidence, and discover that what happened to them is only one chapter — not the whole story.

Every baby born into this community is a reminder of why we do this work: because when a young mother is supported, two futures begin to change.

🌿 Healing lives here.
🌿 Hope grows here.
🌿 This is City of Peace.

April is ending—but the work continues.

During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we chose truth.
We chose to name what survivors—especially African and immigrant women—actually face, without softening it.

And you stood with us.

You followed. You shared. You gave.
You helped hold space for stories that are too often ignored.

This is what community looks like.

But healing does not follow a calendar.
Support does not end today.

If this month moved you in any way—
carry it forward.

One conversation.
One share.
One act of support.

That is how change continues.

$250 can change the direction of a woman’s life.

It is not just a donation.
It is leadership. It is healing. It is voice.

Through this support, a survivor gains the tools to name her experience, rebuild her confidence, and step into leadership within her community.

In Maine, this looks like safe healing circles and peer support.
In Kenya, it supports safe housing and leadership programs for women rebuilding their lives.

The impact goes beyond one person—it reaches families, communities, and future generations.

If you have been wondering how to support this work, this is a direct way to do it.

Give today. Support a survivor’s journey into leadership.

We showed up this month—and you showed up with us.

During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we held space for truth, for survivors, and for conversations that are often silenced. This work is not easy, but it is necessary.

Because behind every statistic is a person. A story. A life that deserves care, dignity, and healing.

This month, we witnessed what happens when community comes together—when people choose to listen, to learn, and to stand with survivors.

And this is just the beginning.

The work does not end with April. Survivors still need safe spaces, support, and community every single day.

Stay connected. Keep showing up. Keep investing in healing.

A healing space created by us, for us.

The African Women’s Healing Circle is a place where stories are held with care, where silence is respected, and where healing happens in community.

Across the continent and throughout the diaspora, many of us carry experiences that are rarely spoken about. This circle offers a space to release, reconnect, and remember that you are not alone.

Through guided conversation, reflection, and gentle movement, we come together to support one another in a way that honors our cultures, our bodies, and our journeys.

If you have been carrying something quietly, this space is for you.

Today, we honor the Earth not just as land beneath our feet—but as a source of healing.

At Wounded Healers International, we see every day how trauma lives in the body…
and how the Earth helps release it.

From the hills of Kenya to the forests and waters of Maine,
healing happens when we reconnect—to land, to breath, to community.

🌱 In Kenya, young mothers are growing food, learning sustainable farming, and creating reusable products that support both their families and the environment.
🌊 In Maine, we gather in nature—moving, breathing, and healing together in spaces where we feel safe and seen.

This is climate justice.
This is healing justice.

Because caring for the Earth and caring for people are not separate.
They are the same work.

Today, and every day, we choose to heal—with the land, not apart from it.

Safe housing saves lives.
Wounded Healers International runs a safe house in Kenya and connects immigrant survivors of sexual violence to safe housing resources in Maine.
Too many survivors stay in unsafe situations because they don't know where to turn — or the system makes it too hard to get there.
We help women find their way out.
If you know someone who needs support, DM us.
