🐾 Meet Peewee 🐾

Peewee is a Newfoundland female, approximately 2 years old. Sweet, goofy, loving... and completely unaware that she is a BIG girl!

Peewee is very loved by her current family, but through no fault of her own, they are looking for a new placement where she can thrive.

Peewee has that classic Newfoundland sweetness and is happiest when she is with her people. She has a wonderful balance of energy and calm... she enjoys being active and having fun, but she is also able to relax at home with her family after some exercise!

She LOVES the doggy pool, does wonderfully at the groomer, and is an absolute sweetheart.

Now, about that size… Peewee doesn't quite understand that she isn't a tiny lap dog. She's a bit of a bull in a china shop and can be exuberant with her big body. 😅 Because of that, we're looking for a family who truly understands XL breeds and is comfortable living with a very large, strong dog.

🏡 Her ideal home:
• Experienced with Newfoundlands or other XL breeds
• Will commit to professional training immediately after adoption
• Looking for a no-dog home
• Wants a dog who can be the center of attention
• Active enough to enjoy life with her, but also appreciates a dog who can settle and relax at home

Peewee can be social and do well around other dogs in public, but she can be selective about dogs in the home. For that reason, we'd love for her to have a home all to herself where she doesn't have to share her people. And honestly? She's perfectly happy being the only queen of the castle.

The biggest focus for Peewee's next chapter will be professional training... helping this big, lovable girl learn how to navigate the world with better manners and understand just how big she actually is.

She's loved. She's sweet. She's goofy. She's a giant puppy who needs the right family to help her become the very best version of herself.

Saturday at Two Ton Brewing was a HUGE success! We had a blast meeting some amazing vendors and, most importantly, meeting everyone who came out to support Jersey Dog Rescue and Two Ton Brewery. ❤️

Adoptable Dolly and Roscoe had the BEST time! Also, please don’t forget to check out our other available dogs who couldn’t join us there.... They are all deserving of amazing furever homes!

Join us tomorrow at Two Ton Brewing in Kenilworth for our very first Dog Day!

We’ve got an amazing lineup of local vendors with something for every pup and their people... from doggy “beers” and custom paintings, to local businesses, unique products, and amazing pet services!

Come out to support an incredible local brewery and Jersey Dog Rescue, all while spending the day surrounded by dogs, great people, and an awesome community.

Multiple adoptable dogs will be there, including Roscoe, Dolly & more! Who knows… you might even meet your new best friend.

Meet Dolly... our 16-week-old Cane Corso girl, named in honor of the legendary Dolly Parton. ❤️

And just like her namesake, this little Dolly has some serious pipes! She can be a bit vocal and demanding when she wants something… but hey, she’s a puppy! She’s learning, growing, and figuring out this whole “being a big girl” thing.

What she does know how to do is LOVE. Dolly will show you exactly how much she adores you with puppy kisses, full-body wiggles, and big-time attention. She wants to be wherever her people are and is happiest when she’s getting attention.

At approximately 45 lbs already, Dolly is going to be a BIG girl... and she’ll be turning 4 months old just in time for Labor Day!

Because of her size, breed, and future potential, Dolly is looking for:
🐾 A home with large-breed/guardian breed/Corso experience
🐾 A family committed to training and continued socialization
🐾 A home with a neutered male large-breed dog would be a dream
🐾 A family that understands she currently has no idea how big she is! 😂

Dolly will be adopted on a spay contract.

🐾 HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY! 🐾

Meet the JDR dogs still waiting for their forever homes! ❤️

🐶 Roscoe: Under 2yo, ~15 lbs, incredibly friendly and outgoing, and dog-friendly. Best guess: Pug/Chi mix!

🐕 Duke: 3yo GSD mix, dog-friendly and absolutely loves his people. He’s looking for a home where someone is home most of the day.

🩶 Ziggy: 6yo Silver Lab who would love to be your one and only pet. He has so much love to give!

🎀 Bella: 8yo Yorkie. Shy, sweet, and gentle. Her “sister” Belka and daughter Bunny are also looking for a home, and keeping them together would be wonderful (but we understand that may not happen) .

🐾 Belka: 12yo Corgi mix. Outgoing, friendly, and full of personality. She’d love to spend her golden years with her “sisters” Bella and Bunny if possible.

🎀 Bunny: 6yo Yorkie (Bella's daughter), has special needs but doesn't affect her overall quality of life. Shy but sweet! Would love to find her future home with Bella and Belka (but we understand if not)

💕 Peewee: under 2yo Newfoundland. Friendly. Looking for a family that will make her the one and only dog, and focus on training.

💙 Duke is waiting for his furever💙

Meet Duke. This incredibly sweet 3-year-old boy is mostly German Shepherd, with a little bit of something big mixed in! 🐾

When Duke came to JDR, he was extremely underweight and had no idea what life in a home was supposed to look like. He is still figuring things out, but he is adjusting beautifully... and he is eager to please, ready to learn through training.

His foster family has been working with him on basic commands, and his housebreaking is going well! He absolutely LOVES his people.... adults, kids, everyone! In fact, he loves them so much that being away from them is hard for him. His foster has been patiently working on his separation anxiety and helping him learn that his people will always come back.

Right now, Duke is recovering from his neuter surgery, so what he really needs is a patient home where he can decompress, recover, heal, and learn what it means to finally feel safe.... Physically AND mentally. ❤️

🏡 Duke's ideal home is one where someone is home most of the time. He thrives on companionship and wants nothing more than to be with his people.

Duke is:
✔️ 3 years old
✔️ Mostly German Shepherd
✔️ Neutered
✔️ Up to date on vaccines
✔️ All blood tests completed
✔️ Healthy
✔️ Learning basic commands
✔️ Has prior exposure to horses and dogs
✔️ Did well with dog meets (and may love a confident female doggy sibling!)
✔️ Absolutely wonderful with people!

What Duke needs most isn't perfection. He needs commitment, patience, stability, and someone who will give him the time he deserves.

He has already had so much change in his short life. He deserves a family who will give him the chance to finally settle in and understand that this time, he's home. 🥹❤️

Are you looking for a workout buddy to hold you accountable? Because if so—Ziggy is too! ❤️🐾

GW: 80–85 lbs *subject to change based on vet recommendation as he loses weight*

Ziggy is severely overweight, and he needs a dedicated person who will make his health and weight loss a priority. He’s 6 years old, and getting this weight off is so important—not just so he can be more comfortable, but so he can have the best chance at a long, healthy, pain-free life.

His foster has already started him on a weight-loss plan, and now we’re looking for a forever home that will continue that commitment.

Ziggy needs a family who will:

🐾 Stick to a strict meal plan. He LOVES his treats, but right now, his health has to come first.
🐾 Build up his endurance gradually with walks and activity appropriate for his current weight, helping him safely improve his stamina as the pounds come off.
🐾 Be committed to getting him to his goal weight. We’re hopeful that as he loses weight and feels better, we’ll see more of that playful, energetic side of him emerge!
🐾 Keep him as the only pet. Ziggy deserves to be the center of attention and soak up all the love.
🐾 Give him time to decompress and settle in with his new people and surroundings.
🐾 Work with JDR on a plan to neuter him once he reaches a healthier weight. Because of his current weight, surgery is not ideal right now. We want to give him the safest possible chance when he does undergo anesthesia and surgery, so JDR will work with his new family and veterinary team to determine when he is healthy enough to be neutered.

Despite everything he needs to work on, Ziggy is a wonderful boy. He’s mellow, affectionate, playful in his own way, and perfectly content to hang out with his people. ❤️ He’s looking for someone who will see the amazing dog underneath those extra pounds.... and be willing to put in the work to help him become the healthiest version of himself.

Last week, Duke’s world completely changed when an incredible foster family stepped up to open their home. Today? He’s a different dog. He gets multiple daily walks, spends his days looking out the window watching the world go by, and napping at his foster mama’s feet while she works. Duke also goes on big adventures to the store, picking out his own toys, treats and beds. He’s getting the love he deserves.

And now he’s ready to find his forever home! He will be getting neutered soon and we hope to place him quickly into his new home so he can start to bond to his forever family! If you think your home is the right fit- please apply!

Duke is a 3 year old GSD mix and when he came to us, he was nearly 20lbs underweight and he needed to work through food/water insecurity, separation anxiety and basic house training. Thanks to the daily patience, love, and dedication of his foster family, he’s made unbelievable strides. These pictures should show just how happy and lucky this guy is! (Seriously can we get a huge thank you and a round of applause for this amazing family? 👏🏻👏🏻)

🚨 URGENT: Ziggy Needs a Forever Home 🚨

💔 This Sunday, Ziggy will be moving into a temporary foster home—but that's only a short-term solution. WE WOULD LIKE TO PLACE HIM ONTO A FUREVER HOME THIS WEEKEND to avoid going into foster at all. He still does not have a permanent place to call home, and it's simply not fair to keep bouncing this wonderful dog from house to house.

Ziggy is a 6 year old handsome Labrador Retriever who needs a family before his temporary foster runs out. He adores people, does wonderfully with children, and is ready to give his whole heart to a family willing to give him a chance.

The hardest part of rescue is watching amazing adult dogs get overlooked because they're no longer puppies.

This week alone, we received an incredible number of applications, calls, emails, texts, and messages for one adorable puppy. We were so thankful for the interest—but there was only one puppy.

When we post dogs like Ziggy, the response is often heartbreakingly quiet.

Adult dogs deserve excitement too. They deserve families who see their value, their loyalty, and the love they're waiting to give. Ziggy has done nothing wrong. He simply needs someone to say, "You're coming home."

Please don't let his temporary foster become another stop on a long list of places he's had to leave behind.

**Ziggy is looking for a home where he can get in some exercise and spend time with his family. He adores children. He should be the only pet in the home... The king of the castle! (however, he does just fine walking past neighborhood dogs)**
