-This just in- over 400 units of plants for our California Native Plant Giveaway at the Sustainability Fair on April 11. SPB sends a huge thank you to Bartlett Tree Services for this donation! In addition, we’ll have a generous donation of veggies from our friends at Bellefontaine Nursery to start our Plant Swap. Thank you Bellefontaine Nursery!
-With so many plants, we’ll need...Volunteers! Please consider helping SPB with set up on April 11, at 12 PM or during the Sustainability Fair, anytime between 1-4 PM. Email [email protected] to let us know you can help out.
-Tell your highschoolers about volunteering: SPB is a 501(c)3 organization and can sign for community service hours
-Reminders for the Plant Swap: Bring a plant, take a plant! Please bring your plant in a pot and label it. People always ask us what the plant is and we don’t always know! Please do not bring an armload of cuttings, as most tend to end up in the green waste bin. We are looking forward to seeing what everyone brings!

January Micro-Forest Workshop
What: Katherine Pakradouni of Seed to Landscape will lead a workshop on Micro-forests! This is unlike our normal Volunteer Days. Join us for this exciting workshop! Learn what micro-forests are and why this approach outperforms traditional plantings. Bring your smartphone to learn how to plan your own micro-forest. When: Jan. 17, 2026, 9-12

Where: South Pas Nature Park, 100 block of Pasadena Ave, east of York Blvd Bridge. Street parking is available on Pasadena Ave for the upper entrance, and in the parking lots near the golf course by the lower entrance. Meet in the park near the lower entrance, next to the recreational path.

February Micro-Forest Planting Party
Also, don’t miss our Planting Party on February 21st when we will plant approximately 120 coastal sage scrub and oak/walnut woodland plants in our own 1,000 square foot micro-forest in the South Pasadena Nature Park. Register at: Eventbrite (Micro-forest Planting Party)

We’ll be weeding flower beds, trimming overgrown areas, and tidying up the landscape to keep our community looking its best. Bring gloves, hand tools, and a positive attitude. All ages and skill levels welcome. Together, we can make a difference in just a few hours!
