Established in February 2023, Walk Bike Ride South Orange’s Purpose is to advise the Board of Trustees on community mobility issues by addressing and prioritizing concerns related to pedestrian, bicycling, traf

fic calming, and public transit experiences. The Committee’s advice to the Board of Trustees may include, but are not limited to the following:
* Advocating for safe, improved pedestrian, cycling and public transportation infrastructure and experiences;
* Providing input into design and operation of crossings, roadways, sidewalks, and multi-use paths;
* Serving as a forum for community input;
* Promoting traffic safety enforcement and education; and
* Creating events and activities that engage the public in non-automobile transportation modalities. Full resolution to create the committee is here:

Maplewood's third community meeting regarding the Prospect St Complete Streets Plan is next Tuesday, May 26 at 7 PM. It's a chance review and discuss the revised concept plan for bicycle lanes, traffic-calming treatments, and pedestrian facility improvements along the entire length of Prospect Street, from Concord Avenue at the border with Union Township to Beach Street at the border with South Orange Village.

Our friends at SOMA Bike Bus are hosting the SECOND ANNUAL SOMA BIKE SWAP on Saturday May 9th. It’s simple! Drop off spare bikes from 6-10am and come with your riders 10am-2pm to find a new bike. Our COMMUNITY is what makes SOMa so great and we hope to find NEW WHEELS for our quickly-growing young riders so that everyone can participate in our community's bike bus programs.

Maplewood is hosting a Learn to Ride and Safe Bike Skills Class on Saturday, April 25! Choose from a class intended to help children learn to ride, or a Safe Bike Skills class to practice essential bike skills in a supportive environment.

SOMA Bike Bus and SOMA Tool Share are teaming up for a two-part event on Sunday, April 26. At 11 AM, check out the free fix-a-flat workshop. At 12 PM join the ribbon cutting and group ride led by the SOMA Bike Bus community to celebrate the new Parker Avenue Bike Lane.
