Tahoe Native Plant and Pollinator Garden

The Tahoe & Sierra Valley Chapter of CNPS has received grant money from the National Forest Foundation to revitalize the native pant garden at the U.S. Forest Service Taylor Creek Visitor Center. The Chapter will work closely with the USFS to design a native plant and pollinator garden for the public to enjoy. Educational signs will showcase native plants that support local pollinators, wildlife, and overall ecosystem health.

This project is just getting started, and volunteers are needed! The Chapter will be coordinating work-days to clean the existing garden, plant new plants and maintain the garden during establishment. This is an exciting project and your help will keep the garden thriving and accessible for the community to enjoy and learn from.

Location: Taylor Creek Visitor Center

Date: All season. Starting next weekend!

Interested? For more information email: [email protected]

The National Forest Foundation connects people to National Forests and leads conservation and recreation efforts through public and private support. Each year, it restores habitats, plants trees after fires and disease, and improves outdoor accessโ€”helping protect these forests as vital community resources.

With this unbelievably warm weather, flowers are already blooming at the lower elevations, including early-season favorite Beckwith's Violet, seen here in Glenshire. If you're excited about wildflowers, TINS has two events in S. Lake Tahoe over the next 8 days with your name on them!

TONIGHT (3/24) - Bob Sweatt is presenting a slideshow recapping his participation in the 4th triennial Tahoe Wildflower Big Year (TWBY) at the El Dorado County Library.

Next Thursday (4/2) - TINS is having a celebration party for last year's TWBY at the League to Save Lake Tahoe's Spurlock/Evers Environment & Education Center. You can expect lots of CNPS folks in attendance!

More information about both events can be found on on the TINS website: https://www.tinsweb.org/upcoming-events
