Clean Tahoe Program

Clean Tahoe Program The Clean Tahoe Program is dedicated to improving the visual environment of Lake Tahoe through litter cleanup, proper trash management & public education.

We address issues lake wide, with 4 full time field agents. Litter Removal
Clean Tahoe's two field crew members follow regularly scheduled routes to remove litter from roadways and neighborhoods, assisted by volunteers and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department Work Release crews as available. The Clean Tahoe Program responds to citizen complaints, and works in conjunction with City and County agen

cies to remove visible litter and illegally-dumped articles from vacant lots and along roadside easements. Courtesy Notices
We remind businesses, rental managers, local residents and off-site property owners of City and County litter ordinances by issuing Courtesy Notices when violations are observed or reported. Copies of these notices are posted on the property and mailed to owners. Clean Tahoe re-inspects the property in 10 days, and, if needed, refers the problem to the appropriate jurisdiction for further enforcement. Community Cleanup Day
Early each summer, the Clean Tahoe Program, along with South Tahoe Refuse Company, sponsors a Community Cleanup Day. Residents can take refuse and bulk items to the Transfer Station for a minimal fee. The balance of the dumping fees are paid by the Program. The Program also helps sponsor a Cleanup Day each Memorial Day weekend in Tahoma on the West Shore. Community Education
The Clean Tahoe Program provides citizen education on causes of and solutions for litter problems, through articles in the print media, public service announcements on TV and radio, appearances at local events, and by presentations for schools and local service organizations.

Remember only clean recycling goes in the recycling tote. No food, no food contaminated items, and no pizza boxes.

Before and after. That storm was a ripper! Digging out the public trash cans all over town has been the order of the day since it stopped snowing.

In order to contain and filter run off and ground water before it drains to the Lake, the City of SLT has Basins all over town. We regularly remove all the trash and dumped items that accumulate in these places. Yesterday we collected 5.5 bags of trash from Pine, Wildwood and Osgood Basins. Thanks "Fro" for doing the work that isn't glamorous, but that really does keep Tahoe Blue.

PSA, if your dumpster looks like this it cannot be serviced. Remember to dig out your dumpster after it snows.

Out with the old year and in with the new, does not mean out with the hide-a-bed couch you no longer want. If you have a piece of furniture you no longer need, take it to the dump don't dump it on the street. Lets just take a minute to appreciate the superhuman strength it takes to get one of those heavy sofa beds into this position. WOW... well done JP. And off to the dump it goes.
