Ski Area Citizens Coalition

Ski Area Citizens Coalition Staff and Volunteers and of SACC are skiers themselves, and recognize skiing and mountain recreations as a valid and great use of public lands.

The experiences, enjoyment, and memories that are created through the use of public lands cannot be monetarily measured; they are invaluable. As Theodore Roosevelt noted, “To waste, to destroy our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we thought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed."

Released in 2006, this is Coldstream Creative's first film and explores the impacts on communities and the environment by the modern ski industry.

The so-called “Water Rights Protection Act,” seems simple on the surface. But the ski industry’s bill (with support from Big Ag, western cattle groups and hydropower industry lobbyists) would allow private water users to dry up rivers on public lands with no regard for other uses or needs.

If passed, the so-called "Water Rights Protection" bill from the ski industry would handcuff federal agencies from requiring recipients of federal permits to keep water in rivers for fish, recreation, or even to protect water quality.

Advocates force Mt. Spokane in Washington to conduct environmental review BEFORE project is approved. Congrats the The Lands Council!

A state appeals court has halted a major expansion at Mt. Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park, saying that the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission erred by not requiring a detailed study of how a new chairlift and runs would impact old-growth forest, meadows and wetlands.
