Attention PCT Boulders climbers! Cabin residents in the area have recently complained about late-night noise and lights from climbers at the PCT Boulders. If these impacts continue, there is a threat that the access gate will be locked to the public.

Climbing access at the PCT Boulders and throughout Tahoe depends on climbers being good neighbors and stewards. Help us protect access to our shared resources by keeping noise and visual impacts to a minimum and being considerate of nearby residents.

Pie Shop Boulders update:

On April 2, TRPA approved the proposed housing development on the parcel at the main entrance to the Pie Shop Boulders. This parcel includes the trailhead/access trail and eight boulders.

Thank you to the dozens of climbers who took the time to submit comments to the TRPA. The community’s support has been critical in starting a productive dialogue with the property owner about maintaining access in the future.

What’s next? TCC will continue to work with the property owner and the public land managers of the adjacent parcels. Stay tuned for more information.

❗️Access Alert❗️

Pie Shop Boulders and trail access are under an immediate development threat, with access to 8 Pie Shop boulders and the main entrance trail proposed to be blocked by new residential development.

The proposed development has undergone initial site assessments and planning review with the TRPA, and the TRPA is holding an online public hearing for the project on April 2.

What you can do: (1) submit written comments opposing the project to TRPA by April 1, (2) attend the online public hearing on April 2.

Written comments should be simple and personal. Briefly explain why the Pie Shop boulders and access trail matter to you and how you use the site. Conclude by asking the TRPA to pause all additional permit approvals and consider the significant recreational history and value of the property.

Submit comments to: [email protected] with the subject line: “1663 Sawmill Road, April 2 Public Hearing”.

The community can also attend the online public hearing on April 2 at 2pm and provide public comment about the importance of the Pie Shop to you.

Comment here or DM with bad bolt locations!

Last week some volunteers on the TCC board replaced some cold shut anchors at castle rock with mussy hooks. This is what we pulled out versus what we replaced the bolts with! Help us locate more bad anchors and bolts. We’ll do our best to get some volunteers out there this fall!
