You might have noticed that the Mayflies are back! These aquatic insects are essential to Oquirrh Lake’s ecosystem and indicate good water quality & lake health. These insects do not bite or sting & spend most of their lives at the bottom of the lake, feeding on organic material such as microalgae. Once they mature, the Mayflies leave the water & only survive for a few days. 🪰

It’s common to find Mayflies near light sources outside your home or in common areas. While the Mayflies aren’t enjoyable and are often seen as a nuisance, they make up an important piece of Oquirrh Lake’s ecosystem and will not be around for long!

Since spring is here a bit sooner this year, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about your landscaping plans. But don’t forget, an approved application is required before any work begins.

All front, side and backyar projects must be submitted and reviewed in advance, and the approval process can take about 30 days. Get ahead of the seasonal rush by preparing your application now so you’ll have plenty of time to schedule contractors and bring your vision to life when warm weather arrives! 🌱🦋

Our next round of playground upgrades are beginning now through the end of the month‼️📢

The park updates due include a full playground replacement for Bowstring Park and Firmont Park, while Brookside Park has a partial replacement for the swing set and shade sails.

Once construction begins, the playground equipment being replaced will be temporarily closed while crews work to finish the installation process as soon as possible. Our team works closely with the Board of Directors and the Neighborhood Advisory Committee to balance long-term planning with the needs and wishes of our community. Park and playground replacements are scheduled based on our reserve study, with priority given to age. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these improvements. ✨

Exciting news! Over the next few weeks we’ll be making improvements to several playgrounds throughout the community to keep them fun, safe, and ready for play. ✨ Work kicks off today at Peek-a-Boo park, with the next round of upgrades scheduled for Boulder, Bowstring, Brookside, and Firmont Park.

During construction, some playgrounds may be temporarily closed while the magic happens. If you arrive and find your favorite park temporarily closed for a glow-up, don’t worry! Daybreak has lots of parks to explore 📍 Thank you for your patience while we make these parks even better for everyone. Stay tuned to see how the upgrades turned out!

Please remember that certain battery-powered vehicles, gas-powered vehicles, commercial scooters, and motorcycles are prohibited on our trails. Small personal electric vehicles are welcome— just keep it under 15 mph! 🚴‍♂️💨
