This , take the time to learn about the Dawes Act and tribal trust lands. Under these policies, Indigenous peoples lost 90 million acres of land and have only seen 9 million acres returned. Economic development opportunities for Native communities are deeply tied to the status of land. Without the resources to acquire mortgages for tribal trust lands, Native communities are missing out on BILLIONS of dollars of lost wealth. Investing in Native families, changing oppressive policies, and supporting homeownership is how we can help Native economies thrive.
