Today, we observe the 5-year anniversary of the passing of our Sergeant Kuo-sheng “Johnny” Wang. Sergeant Wang’s impact, not only on the South Houston Police Department but on law enforcement as a whole, was immeasurable. He was constantly teaching and helping develop the next generation of officers, which is reflected today in how our officers serve this community.
To this day, community members still share their stories with us about how Sergeant Wang had an impact on their lives and the lives of their families. His deliberately repeated phrases live on through the officers who had the privilege of serving alongside him and under his command, and now through the next generation of officers.
Today, here’s to Sergeant Wang—a man among men. Gone, but never forgotten. Until Valhalla. EOW August 19, 2021.
In memory of Sergeant Wang, we have requested a memorial chair from Saving a Hero’s Place, which is funded entirely through donations. Each memorial chair is funded purely through donations and costs, on average, $2,500 to complete. The chair will be displayed at the entrance of the patrol room at our Police Department to remind our officers of the ultimate sacrifice Sergeant Wang made for this agency and our community.
Please show your support by donating or sharing the donation link to help us get this chair made and support this selfless and wonderful organization.
