Venus is here with this weeks . This week our biggest needs include:

These are supplies we go through every single day to keep our animals happy, healthy, and comfortable. Donations can be dropped off at our Adoption Center during open hours or shipped directly from our Amazon or Chewy wishlists linked below.

We also have our Cleaning Supply Drive happening over the next week! We're working to fill the big desk in our lobby with much-needed cleaning supplies, including laundry detergent, p**p bags, trash bags, disinfecting wipes, and more. If you're able to pick up an extra cleaning supply for Al-Van during your next shopping trip, we'd be incredibly grateful!

Thank you for making our Bark-B-Que a success!🫐

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and sponsored this year's Blueberry Bark-B-Que!

It was a wonderful evening filled with great food, friendly faces, and a shared commitment to helping the animals in our care. Events like this would not be possible without the incredible support of our community, and we are so grateful for everyone who joined us.

A special thank you to our sponsors whose generosity helped make this event possible. Your support directly impacts the lives of homeless pets in our community and helps provide the food, shelter, medical care, and second chances they deserve.

We have some exciting news... Al-Van is competing in TREAT's August Shelter Contest!

TREAT lets you play with our shelter dogs right from your phone. As you play, you can send real food and treats to the animals at Al-Van, turning a few minutes of fun into something that makes a real difference. 🐶❤️

Now, we need your help!

Throughout the month of August, shelters across the country are competing to see who can bring in the most new TREAT users. And the prizes could make a HUGE difference for the animals in our care:

Meet Venus, our !

Venus is a beautiful tabby with a big personality and absolutely no intention of being overlooked. This social girl loves spending time with people and will happily make her wishes known when she's ready for some attention. If you're looking for a cat who will actually come looking for you instead of hiding under the bed, Venus is your girl.

Her favorite hobby? Window watching! She loves a good window seat where she can watch the world go by. While Venus can tolerate sharing her space with other cats, she'd much rather have the spotlight all to herself. After all, why share the attention when she can have it all?

With her social nature, confident personality, and adorable sass, Venus is the kind of cat who quickly makes herself an important part of your everyday life. Our shelves are looking a little too empty for this kitten's liking. Kitten season has kept our Intake Center incredibly busy, and we're going through food quickly as we care for the growing number of animals who need us.

Right now, two of our biggest needs are:

Pate cat food
Wet dog food

Every can helps keep bellies full and tails wagging while our shelter pets wait for their next chapter.

Last Thursday, we opened a little later than usual so our staff could spend the morning participating in hands-on training together.

Continuing education is an important part of providing the best possible care for the animals at Al-Van. During this training, our team practiced safe, low-stress handling techniques used during everyday procedures like administering medications, performing medical treatments, and trimming nails. These skills help make routine care safer and less stressful for both our animals and our staff.

And because learning is always better with pastries, we treated our team to some delicious baked goods from Bunde's Bakery Cafe.

Thank you to our community for supporting opportunities like these. By investing in our staff, we're able to provide even better care for the pets who need us most.
