Today is the first day of Childhood Cancer Awareness month. 🎗️
Childhood Cancer has changed our lives in ways I never imagined. Jillian is only 15 and instead of worrying about school, friends, and the normal teenage things she has had to face hospital visits, treatments and struggles that no child should ever have to go through. It breaks my heart to see how much she has missed out on and how much she has to worry about at such a young age.
Through all of this, Jillian has shown strength that amazes me everyday! She fights with courage even on the hardest days and she still manages to smile and find happiness wherever she can. Cancer has taken so much from her but it hasn't taken her spirit.
As her mother I am in awe of her! Her resilience is awe-inspiring. This journey has been painful, unfair and just plain SUCKS! But it has also shown me how strong and beautiful Jillian truly is 🧡
The past 9 months have been hell and she has about two more years to go. Her treatment is scheduled to be finished at the end of her junior year of high school. I can't imagine 3 years of a life dedicated to treatment, but in true Jillian fashion she will go through it with a smile on her face.
Thank you to all of you who have supported her and continued to support her. There are so many to thank! Every text, phone call or time spent with Jillian means so much to all of us. Two more years of treatment is a long time, but with the support and encouragement from family and friends and strangers who have become friends, she will get through it. She will kick cancers A$$!
