🌟 Spotlight on Dr. Brad Haverkos, MD, MSc

Dr. Haverkos is an Associate Professor in the Division of Hematology at the University of Colorado. He completed his oncology fellowship at Ohio State University, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Medical Science and completed an NIH-sponsored postdoctoral fellowship with an emphasis on immunology, virology, biostatistics, and clinical trial design. In 2015, he joined the Lymphoma and Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Colorado.

He specializes in high-risk lymphomas and cellular and immune-based therapies, with a focus on mature T- and NK-cell lymphoproliferative disorders. He has developed a clinical and research program in this area and co-directs a multidisciplinary cutaneous lymphoma clinic. He is the principal investigator of multiple lymphoma clinical trials, specifically focusing on immunotherapy and biomarker driven clinical trials. Drawing on his laboratory experience as a postdoctoral fellow and his subsequent clinical focus as a lymphoma investigator, his approach to translational discovery is to build a cohesive, multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of T-cell lymphomas.

🏥 University Affiliation: University of Colorado
🧪 Area of focus in clinical practice and research: T-cell lymphoma
🔎 Looking forward to in the field of cutaneous lymphomas and at the 6th WCCL: more targeted therapies and synergistic combinations
💭 What are you passionate about in medicine or recreationally? In medicine, I’m most passionate about improving all aspects of patient care and outcomes. In my spare time, I enjoy travel, spending time with my family, and outdoor activities (running, hiking, etc).
🏆 A short story or academic achievement you are proud of: One achievement I’m particularly proud of is building our multi‑disciplinary cutaneous lymphoma clinic from the ground up. When I arrived at CU in 2015, Colorado didn’t have an oncologist focused on T‑cell lymphomas. I saw a real need, and over the years the clinic has expanded into a regional resource for patients from Colorado and surrounding states. Watching it grow—and seeing the impact of dedicated, specialized care on patients’ lives—has been one of the most meaningful parts of my career.
🌟Secret to career success: maintaining a sustainable work/life balance
