Chicago South Side Birth Center is a non-profit startup that will be an independent, Black midwife-led, not-for-profit Birth Center located on the South Side of Chicago. We hope to be an answer to the lack of care options currently available on the Southside as well as a solution to the disparate maternal and child health rates among Black birthing people and children on the South Side.

This weekend, we gathered in community for Birth Emergency Skills — a space to learn, practice, and build confidence in supporting birth in unexpected situations.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with openness, curiosity, and care.

From recognizing early signs to practicing hands-on skills, this workshop was about building collective confidence and strengthening our ability to care for one another.

Spaces like this remind us that knowledge is something we can share, practice, and carry with us — in our homes, our families, and our neighborhoods.

We’re so grateful to be learning and growing alongside you.

Our next Birth Emergency Skills workshop is in September! Stay tuned for more details or join the waitlist with the link in our bio. 🤍

Every thriving ecosystem depends on pollinators. 🦋

They carry vital energy from place to place…
They nurture growth…
They help new life bloom. 🌸

This spring, as construction begins on the Chicago South Side Birth Center, we’re launching The Pollinator’s Circle — a community of monthly supporters helping sustain midwifery care, birth education, and community-rooted reproductive health.

Our goal is to welcome 50 founding members by April 30th.

Monthly gifts of $35, $100, or $150 help ensure that families on the South Side have access to culturally grounded birth care for generations to come.

Become a founding pollinator today and receive a special gift in gratitude. 🤍
