The BCSO's successful debut concert in November, 2011 under the direction of Daniel Bruce included the Symphony No. 1 by Johannes Brahms, and the Vermont premiere of Michael Daugherty's Ghost Ranch, a challenging and evocative contemporary work inspired by the paintings of Georgia O'Keeffe. In February, 2012, the BCSO performed two beloved works for children, Prokoviev's Peter and the Wolf and Bri

tten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, for an enthusiastic — and near sellout — audience of families with young children, many of whom had never before attended a symphony concert. The final concert of the orchestra's inaugural season, to be held in June, 2012, will feature Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor with special guest pianist Diane Huling, and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.
