The partnership between the director and the designers of a play is crucial for the life and success of a run.

Creating an artistically cohesive production can be a challenge when collaborating with many artists and designers. One of the many hats worn by the director is to unify all of that and keep the vision in tact.

Easier said than done.

To our immersive theatre camp coming this July on The Prizery, South Boston, Virginia stage! What are you waiting for?

Come explore Hundred Aker Wood with us and Winnie the Pooh!!

Each day we’ll work and play together on The Prizery stage learning all about the steps that go into putting on a show. We will wind the week up with a performance of Winnie The Pooh from the stories of A. A. Milne.

When:
8:30AM - 2:30PM
Monday-Friday
July 13th - 18th
Ages 7-14
Culminating with a performance of the full length play Winnie The Pooh on Friday night.

How in the world will we do this?

We'll hold auditions and assign parts in mid-June, and everyone will have a full script weeks before camp. The play will be divided into manageable sections, with a different cast for each section. Hopefully, actors will be familiar with their parts on Day 1 of camp. We'll dedicate a big part of our day to rehearsing in cast groups (and running the show later in the week), but we'll also paint our own scenery, gather props and design makeup to compliment our costumes. We’ll encourage good acting habits, stage presence, and teamwork through theatre games, rehearsals, and group set realization work.
