The cornerstone of the new Masonic temple was laid at the corner of Main Street, South Boston, on Thursday, July 18, 1901. Oscar Kerns, Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, conducted this ceremony. This building was three-stories high. The top floor was used as a Lodge room; the second floor was the Theater, business offices and the first floor were shops and other businesses such as Western Union. This building was later taken over by the South Bank and Trust Company. Faulkner donated the land on which the present Masonic temple stands. It was given in Memory of his father, Brother Garland E. Faulkner, a charter member of this Lodge, after which it became Faulkner Memorial Lodge No. 91. Brother Faulkner was a member of Joppa Lodge No. 362, Shreveport, Louisiana. The firebrick veneer structure was built in 1955. It includes the Lodge room and various rooms on the main floor and a large dinning room and a fully equipped kitchen downstairs.
