Dig where you stand! In 2020, the Castle fire swept through 20 Giant Sequoia groves in California, killing thousands of mature trees, an estimated 10 percent of the species' entire population. Many of these ancient monarchs are 1,000 to 2,000 years old--among the oldest living tree species on earth. Supporting the efforts of the U.S. Forest Service, GreenWood and sculptor Brad Sells & Bark Studio collaborated to help salvage fallen timber from roads in the Sequoia National Forest. We're aiming to tell the story--through Brad's exceptional wood art--about how climate change threatens these ancient monarchs and the forested landscape on which we all depend.

You can find out more in this Sequoia video. Brad's work is also featured in this profile: thelaurelofasheville.com/arts/feature-artist-brad-sells/ From May 5 to June 28, you can see his sculpture on display at the Blue Spiral 1 Gallery in Asheville, NC:
