Meghann’s Wednesday Recap ✨

Wednesday, we hit the Hill and had the opportunity to meet with Senators Todd Young and Jim Banks to discuss pro-housing initiatives and the importance of creating more housing opportunities across Indiana. Both were very receptive to the conversation and expressed appreciation for the work REALTORS® are doing every day on the ground to help Hoosiers achieve homeownership.

We also had the pleasure of meeting with the staff of Congressman Rudy Yakym while the House was out of session. Their team was incredibly welcoming, took the time to listen to our stories, and thoughtfully noted the issues and perspectives we shared to pass along to Congressman Yakym.

One of the highlights of the day was receiving a tour of the Capitol from one of his staffers, who also happens to be a Notre Dame student completing her internship here in D.C. It was especially fun connecting with a fellow South Bender while learning more about the history and significance of the Capitol Building.

Wednesday officially wrapped up the REALTOR® Legislative Meetings with NAR, and Thursday concludes with board meetings before we head home at noon. We’re looking forward to sharing a more in-depth recap and key takeaways in an upcoming newsletter!

Meghann’s Tuesday Wrap-Up ✨

It was officially “Lawrence Day” here in DC! We kicked off the morning hearing from Dr. Lawrence Yun and Dr. Jessica Lautz, who shared incredible insight into the current housing market — with plenty of humor mixed in along the way. Who knew economists could be so entertaining?! One thing remains clear: we still need more homes on the market.

From there, we headed into breakout sessions filled with great conversations, collaboration, and roundtable discussions. These sessions are always a highlight, and today was no exception. There’s always something new to learn and bring back home to better serve our members and communities.

I also had the opportunity to attend the RCE Luncheon and hear Natalie Davis speak on Leading Change When Everyone Is Tired of Change. I previously heard her speak at AEI, and once again she did not disappoint. As a bonus, another AE and I even got to meet her afterward — and yes, we absolutely asked for a selfie. 📸😂

We wrapped up the evening at the IAR RPAC Major Investor Event, proudly rocking our “SBAR Takes DC” shirts. I’m grateful to have volunteer leaders who are always willing to jump into my fun ideas with enthusiasm. It was a fantastic night filled with music, dancing, advocacy conversations, and meaningful discussions about protecting homeownership, private property rights, and fair housing for all.

The perfect ending to a great day before heading to Capitol Hill! 🏛️

Meghann’s Monday recap! (Or at least I think it was Monday… I keep having to remind myself what day it is 😂)

We started the day hearing from Presidential Historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin. What an inspiring and remarkable woman. I think our entire group was in awe. Hearing history told by someone who experienced so much of it firsthand truly puts things into perspective. I won’t share all of her stories here… but if you see me in person, be sure to ask. 😬

From there, we headed into breakout sessions filled with more learning, collaboration, and networking. We can’t wait to bring back some of the ideas and takeaways to share with our members and leadership team.

We wrapped up the evening with an SBAR dinner alongside our friends from ECBOR. There were great conversations, a lot of laughs, and definitely way too much food. We left with full bellies and even fuller hearts after such a meaningful day spent learning, connecting, and enjoying fellowship together.

Meghann’s Moments from the Capitol:

We traveled into Washington, D.C. on Saturday and enjoyed a great dinner with the SBAR members who were able to join us. The highlight of the night? Not one, but two butter cakes — and they were absolutely amazing. 🍰

Sunday kicked off with hearing from leadership at NAR, followed by a variety of breakout sessions filled with valuable insight, collaboration, and fresh ideas. We wrapped up the day at an event hosted by IAR, spending the evening with friends and colleagues from across Indiana on the rooftop of the beautiful Zena Hotel. 🙌

It’s always a great time connecting, collaborating, networking, and catching up with our REALTOR® family from across the state! 💙🤍
