Cultivate Food Rescue

Cultivate Food Rescue Cultivate Food Rescue has a vision of No Neighbor Hungry, No Food Wasted.

Through strategic partnerships, Cultivate Food Rescue will be a leader in perishable food rescue, procurement, redistribution, and education in order to meet the nutritional needs of communities.

Cultivate partners with 313 local organizations, schools, and nonprofits to help get rescued food where it is needed most.

In our second episode of 313, we had Amy Hill, CEO of YWCA North Central Indiana, share about how Cultivate helps provide access to nutritious food to the clients they help every day.

This is what “No Neighbor Hungry. No Food Wasted.” looks like in action.

The man behind Cultivate Food Rescue: Jim Conklin’s commitment to ensure no Michiana food goes to waste. A story by Lauren Moss on WNDU 👏

Jim Conklin is a servant leader who learned the value of time and purpose the hard way, which allowed him to make Cultivate what it is today.

Our Co-Founder and Executive Director, Jim Conklin, joined WNDU this afternoon to talk about the launch of Donate to Cultivate.

We are incredibly grateful to WNDU for choosing Cultivate Food Rescue as the focus of their on-air appeal throughout the month of June. This campaign will help raise awareness and support for children and families facing food insecurity across St. Joseph, Elkhart, and Marshall counties.

Throughout the month, WNDU will be sharing different stories from Cultivate and from those lwho benefit from the work being done across our community. These stories will help show the real impact of rescued food, strong partnerships, and a community that chooses to care.

Today is World Hunger Day, and the need is growing right here in our communities.

shines a light on food insecurity and the importance of sustainable, community-driven solutions. At Cultivate Food Rescue, we remain committed to rescuing food, reducing waste, and ensuring our neighbors have access to nutritious meals.

Across St. Joseph, Elkhart, and Marshall counties, more than 63,000 people are currently facing food insecurity. According to the 2026 Indiana Kids Count Data Book from the Indiana Youth Institute, food insecurity has increased across all three counties, meaning more children and families are struggling to know where their next meal will come from.

The good news is this: there is enough food. The challenge is access, awareness, and distribution. That’s why the work happening every day at Cultivate Food Rescue matters now more than ever.

Together, we can rescue food, fight hunger, and make sure no neighbor goes hungry.

This morning was an exciting one at Cultivate Food Rescue as we received a semi-truck load of food and supplies from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah.

As part of a nationwide effort delivering 250 truckloads to 250 food banks across the United States, Cultivate was honored to be selected as one of the recipients. It’s a reminder that fighting hunger truly takes a national network working together locally, and every item delivered today will stay right here in our community to help neighbors facing food insecurity.

Local media outlets were also on site this morning to help tell the story, and we’ll share those coverage links later today.

For now, we wanted to share some drone footage of the truck’s arrival and simply say thank you.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

At Cultivate Food Rescue, we are grateful for the veterans who are part of our team. For many, this day carries deep personal meaning, as they remember fellow service members and friends who never made it home.

Today is not simply a holiday, but a day of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude.
