Congratulations Rima!!

We are so thrilled to announce that our very own Rima Bell has been named the 2024 Midwest Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America!

This prestigious honor was awarded during the Youth of the Year celebration dinner in Chicago last night, where Rima excelled in a competitive field of peers from 12 Midwestern states.

A rising junior at Career Academy South Bend, Rima started her journey with Club as a Kindergartener at our Harrison Club site. She has shown remarkable resilience through personal tragedy, emerging as a leader and role model for her peers. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of the Club.

Rima concluded her speech with: “As I stand here today, I'm deeply honored to be considered for the Boys & Girls Club Midwest Youth of the Year. This recognition isn't just about me; it's a celebration of the Club's commitment to nurturing resilient, caring, and responsible young leaders who will shape our future. I can give people like me opportunities. I can be the difference. And I can create an environment for others to succeed."

Rima credits the supportive atmosphere and staff at the Club for guiding her through challenging times and giving her the inspiration to become the leader she is today.

She will head to Atlanta to compete in the National Youth of the Year competition in September. Join us in celebrating her incredible accomplishments and cheer her on as she heads to the next and final round. Congratulations Rima, we are extremely proud of all your accomplishments!

Meet Allie, Finance Board Member of Friends Of The Club! Born and raised in South Bend, Allie has spent ten years in Banking. She is also a devoted wife and mother, and enjoys spending her free time with her family.

Meet Sarah, Community Engagement Board Member of the Friends of the Club! Sarah has been with the Club for more than a decade! She started volunteering in middle school and continued through high school. With her love for community work, she also served as an Americorp volunteer.

Growing up on the West Side of town and as a Harrison Alumni, Sarah states the Boys & Girls Club gave her the opportunity to be the role model she needed as a kid. Starting her career at the Harrison site as a Youth Development Professional, Sarah has advanced over the years working as a STEM Content Specialist, Team Lead, & Club Director!

Her current focus is working with the Boys & Girls Club to execute their experiential learning. In her free time, Sarah loves doing anything creative or visiting local shops and events!

Meet Lucas, Operations Board Member of the Friends of the Club! Lucas is a second-year business associate at THK Law and enjoys helping local businesses solve their daily legal problems. After graduating from IUB Maurer School of Law, Lucas moved to South Bend in July 2022 and has been constantly looking for opportunities to be more involved with the community. After participating in the FOTC’s kick-off event, he knew he had to be a part of it. He’s excited to work with a bunch of awesome people who share his passion for shaping the future of the next generation in the community. Lucas acquired a love for ice cream at his family’s ice cream shop growing up. You’ll find Lucas hiking, visiting national and state parks, and attending musicals when he’s not trying out new local flavors
