South Bend Education Alliance The South Bend Education Alliance will unite decades of dedication, expertise, and community impact into one powerful foundation.

As a unified organization, we're coming together to provide resources for the incredible work happening across our schools. The South Bend Alumni Association was founded in 1985 as the South Bend School Boosters for the sole purpose of saving the School Field complex from demolition. The founders later believed they could do more important things than save structures. They decided they could positively affect the education of children. In 1990 the Boosters founded the Alumni Association. After a few years it was determined the two organizations had common goals and objectives, and uniting their resources would be more productive and beneficial to children. At that time the name of the Indiana 501(c)(3) corporation was changed to The South Bend Alumni Association with a single volunteer board of directors. So far the Alumni Association has donated, gifted, granted, loaned and distributed nearly a half million dollars to students and education programs. Our endowment, known asPlan2000,continues to grow, with a goal of providing academic scholarships in perpetuity. The South Bend Community Hall of Fame is administered and funded by the Association and honors local people who have distinguished themselves in their work, achievements and service.A Lunch Club meets monthly where participants enjoy lunch, entertainment and socializing. The Lunch Club is open to all former students, staff and their friends.

🐦 Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! 🚌

Second graders from Marshall Elementary recently took their learning beyond the classroom with a trip to Riley High School to see the Riley Drama Department's production of *Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!*

Thanks to an SBEA field trip grant, these young students had the opportunity to experience live theater while seeing the incredible work of fellow SBCSC students!

And the learning didn't stop when the curtain closed! 🎭

According to second grade teacher Emily Kiska, students read the book before attending the performance and then compared and contrasted the characters, settings, and events afterward.

We love seeing opportunities like this bring learning to life while connecting students across grade levels. It's a wonderful reminder of the talent, creativity, and experiences happening throughout our district!

🎉 October is National Principals Month! 🎉

We're celebrating ALL of the amazing principals across South Bend Community School Corporation who lead, inspire, and go above and beyond for their students, staff, and school communities every day!

And we have to give a special shoutout to Principal Goralczyk, Principal Henderson, and Principal Seitz, who have been such good sports at the South Bend Community Hall of Fame banquet! For two years in a row, they've stepped up to take on whatever role we've asked them to play, always with enthusiasm and a willingness to have a little fun along the way!

That spirit of teamwork, flexibility, and dedication is something we see in principals throughout SBCSC. From supporting teachers to encouraging students and building strong school communities, their impact reaches far beyond the school day.

To all of our SBCSC principals: Thank you for everything you do to help our students thrive! 💙

❤️ Behind every great leader is someone who believed in them.

At this year's South Bend Community Hall of Fame Banquet, we celebrated the remarkable individuals who have made a lasting difference in our community. But we also took a moment to recognize the teachers, coaches, and mentors who helped shape their journeys.

In this special video, our 2026 Hall of Fame inductees reflect on the educators and mentors who inspired them, reminding us just how powerful one person's encouragement can be.

Now, it's our turn to make that difference for the next generation. ❤️

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our Hall of Fame attendees, we raised nearly $32,000 in one night for our Double the Impact campaign! We're so close to our $40,000 goal, which will help provide essential resources to South Bend educators and students through our Teacher Wishlist and Teacher Store programs.
