Are your children in the appropriate car seats for their age, height and weight?

SBPD is teaming up with State Farm and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute for another 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 car seat safety check for parents and caregivers in our community.

Stop by our drive-thru event on Friday, October 20, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to ensure your child's car seat is installed properly.

Your child 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧 be present for the safety check. SBPD Certified Car Seat Technicians will also inspect infant car seats for babies that haven't yet arrived.

The South Bend Police Department is located at 701 W. Sample Street. Follow the signage to enter the inspection site.

October is safe sleep awareness month.

Giving your baby Room to Breathe, means understanding how small their airway is and ensuring that their sleeping space is free of extra things. Removing pillows, blankets, people and boppies for the safety snoozing space!

South Bend Empowerment Zone and La Casa de Amistad are coming together to host GetReady! Back to School Event on Saturday, August 5 from 11 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at La Casa de Amistad.

In addition to free food and fun, those who attend will be able to collect a clear backpack and two uniform shirts, receive free sports physicals and haircuts, and sign up for after school activities. And, there are sponsorship opportunities available.
