When we think about making a difference, it’s hard not to think about Don “Greg” Chavez!

It’s with great sadness that we share the news of Don Chavez passing.

Don Chavez was a great leader in our community who lived a life with the principles of Servant Leadership. He mentored many of us, and would always encourage us to make a difference in the best way possible, VOTING! “Want a change, vote, and if you can, run for something”.

Thank you for everything you did for the South Bend, and Michiana community!

On Monday, if you check DHS website and look up info on the DACA program, you will see new, yet familiar information. The program is Restored.

This is a a huge win for hundreds of young and talented people. We know hundreds of DACA beneficiaries living in the Michiana area who work and have contributed to the betterment of many organizations locally.

President Trump tried shutting this program stating it was unconstitutional, and the program stopped accepting new applicants since 2017. According to the NYT, it’s expected that roughly 300,000 new applicants could now be elegible! In addition, the duration of the program will go back to 2 years.

We advise you to reach out to an attorney to learn if you or someone you know is elegible. Another local organization that ca help is La Casa de Amistad.

Sad to share this news, but at the same time excited to have seen a Latinx running for the highest office in the US.

Sad to share this news, but at the same time excited to have seen a Latinx running for the highest office in the US.

Mr. Castro, the former housing secretary and mayor of San Antonio, was the only Latino candidate in the race. He championed progressive policies but did not find his footing in polls.
