Come out for a great time listening to great music, all to raise money for a great cause, Hoosier Burn Camp for kids. A place where young burn survivors can just be one of the kids.

The first annual Local 362 Heroes Golf Outting is coming up, July 21st. Formerly known as the Joz, the Local 362 Heroes Golf outing will continue to raise proceeds to benefit one of our own, or other local fire brother/sister and their familes facing medical hardships.

This year, proceeds from the Heroes Golf Outing will benefit Captain John Fleming, a lifelong South Bend resident who has served on the fire department for 44 years. Captain Fleming is currently undergoing aggressive treatment for bladder cancer, and we are committed to supporting him and his family during this difficult time.

We express our profound thanks to Representative Maureen Bauer for her legislative work in support of Indiana's firefighters who are facing the rising challenge of occupational cancer. This affliction has taken a considerable toll on our department, including our current fire chief, who is featured in this article.

We ask that citizens show their support for firefighters by discussing with legislators the importance of funding programs for exposure research and the acquisition of safer equipment.
